Hi guys, just to share my story..
In my mid year exams i got a freaking C6 and i was like totally devasted (though i really disliked chinese). 2 days ago, i got a B3 and a distinction for my oral and LC!!! A real surprise for me.
Yeah, and i also strongly encourage those people who are really better in their other subjects to just move on if you already have a B3/4

Hmm.

Whether you should retake or not depends on your other subjects as well. While you CAN use Chinese as part of the L1R5 (JC) or L1R4 (Poly) to give you an advantage, it depends on whether you CAN capture on that advantage. If you're scoring well in your other subjects, perhaps it would be wiser not to retake and use the time to brush up on the other subjects that WILL help you score points, or in this case, lose

So even though you're average C5 or 6, if you know that you're not relying on this to get what you want, why bother?

Unless, you're like me, who had no choice either way

True, but theres actually not much to lose considering that they take the better score of the two. Furthermore i think that the much better schools will probably not retake which will then ease up the moderation or something like that .

Got A2 last year. Helped me to pull up my L1R5 though. B3 to me is good enough already. Many of my friends retake after getting B3, got back the same grade. Quite waste time ah.
