:evil: HEY U ORGANISERS.. WATS UP WITH U GUYS ORGANISING A GIG BUT ASKING BANDS TO SELL ALOT OF TIX TO PEFORM.. N NOT ONLY TAT IF U NEVER SELL THOSE TIX FINISH U HAVE TO PAY IT BACK.. IT IS LIKE U HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY.. Y NOT U GUYS PAY THE BAND SINCE THEY HAVE ALREADY PEFORM FOR YR GIG.. CRAP LAR U.. GO QUIT YR JOB.. FIND A BETTER JOB.. U GUYS DON'T KNOW HOW TO ORGANISE A GIG.. U GUYS ARE MAKING ALOT OF MONEY N NOT A SINGLE CENTS IS GIVEN TO THE BAND.. WAT.. ITS NOT LIKE LAST TIME.. YOU JUST HAVE TO COME TO THE DOOR N BUY THE TIX.. N WHAT IS THIS CRAP U HAVE TO BE AT THE LOCATION ON TIME.. U ARE STRESSING THE BAND.. U ALREADY ASKING THEM TO SELL TIX N U ARE STRESSING THEM.. DAMN!! I'M SICK OF ALL THIS ORGANISERS.. U GUYS ARE SO DESPERATE FOR MONEY THAT U CALL 12 BANDS TO PEFORM ASKING THEM TO SELL 30 TIX EACH AT $12 EVERY TIX GETS $2 COMMISION.. ONLY $60(IF ONLY THE BANDS SELL ALL THE TIX)..
U GUYS GET:

30 TIX * 12 BANDS = 360 TIX
360 TIX * $10 = $3600
N MORE IF PPL BUYS AT THE DOOR..

BANDS ONLY RECEIVE $60 OR LESS.. N U GUYS GETS LYKE 60 TIMES THE AMOUNT.. WHAT?! U GUYS ARE NOT MAKING THE SINGAPORE MUSIC SCENE MORE POPULAR BUT MAKING IT FADE SLOWLY N SLOWLY.. COME ON LAR THINK.. SINGAPORE IS NOT A BIG COUNTRY.. THINK PLEASE.. THANKS.. :evil:
 
hahaha.

they aren't doing anything wrong. but it's up to you whether you want to support them or not.

if you think that "they don't know how to organize a gig at all" then why give them your money?

and bands SHOULD be at the location on time. it's basic courtesy to the promoters to allow simple admin to follow through. =)
 
but its irritating.. 2 of my friend band have to pay back each $60 for not finishing the tix and they never tell them if u didnt finish it have to pay back.. i was there..
 
well as a band you should ask the promoters about every single detail.
refuse to pay if you weren't told!

but above all, take it as a learning experience and don't be bitter. =)
 
Well cool down. Perhaps your argument's kind of biased cause i guess the organisers of such gigs would also have to raise money to pay the club for the usage of their equipment and venue right? I think no organiser would be willing to fork out his/her own money to pay for the venue, equipment and the bands himself? Hmm this is just what i feel, but feel free to ask around and prove me wrong. And i guess the gigs organised these days are not only to promote the local music scene, but also to aid new and inexperienced bands by letting them gain more exposure through the live performances and live audience. So can i ask, if the bands do not promise a minimum audience, who would make up the crowd to watch these bands? Sure, there might be people who just come up to the door to purchase tickets and support the gig. But would you expect the entire audience to be made up of people who just come and buy from the door? Surely the bands would be able to sell tickets by getting support from their friends or family members. And i believe this mutual sale of tickets among the bands would help to bring in the crowd so as to make the gig more happening, and also to allow the new bands to gain the maximum exposure through a specific gig.
 
ok maybe u are true.. what i'm not happy now is that if the band dont sell all the tix they to play the amount of tix they didnt sell.. so what if its in your shoes.. u are force to pay back.. n u have to use all the commission money u get to cover it n u dun get anithing.. that is what happen to some of my friends.. then they dun feel happy after the gig eventhough if they they did great..
 
I think the orangizer should at least put up a BALANCE SHEET so that we all know where the money go to. Or maybe soft can form a committee to go a audit the organizer. If they are right, they have nothing to hide!..... heheh just a suggestion...
 
aiyah...if they making so much money y u think they still use gas haus? can make at fort canning already lah...good enough they pay u sia if u sell required amt of tickets. imagine if u were not asked to sell, but not given a single cent at the end of the day. which one better? and the organisers did mention, "cannot sell, dont apply."

its only gas haus.. haha.. i have friends who organise at arts house n substation but they only sell tix at 5 to 6 bucks n bands they call is way much more good n power n bands dun have to sell a single tix but they get get money after their peformance.. gas haus you only have to pay less than $800 to organise but arts house n substation u have to pay like $1,000 pluss.. but they still give bands money..
 
haha hmm i think the difference here might be that, as you said, the bands that perform at substation are actually good and experienced, and thus people would willingly go on their own accord to support the bands. but i guess the recent gigs at gashaus are more to allow new bands to gain more exposure and attract supporters.

I think what organisers such as Xtreme Boy is doing is only practical and economic. Haha if you studied economics, you'd realise that the only way for a firm to stay in business in the long run is to achieve supernormal profits which means to cover your costs and then more. The only real way to do this is to make sure people come to your gig. So, speaking as a member of a band that has played Xtreme music gigs, it IS a pain to sell 20 tickets and hassle your friends to come to your gig. But at the end of the day its the only way to make sure that the organiser stays in business because without organiser, no gig. No gig, no voice.
 
Its a pretty fair argument.This tread has just saved my band arse from paying whole whole bucket of money for being unable to sell 30 tickets for 12 bucks each.Thanks man!
 
u want u call the organiser urself,and speak ur mind...see what they have to say lah...u complain on soft like we can do something abt it?

I just think putting down an organisation's name is not the right way to settle things. It just shows how cowardly you are. peace
 
panzer has a point there, you shouldnt direct specifically at people. although you are also right in a sense. forgive him la, he has a point but just that he puts it in a very harsh way.
