Thinking of getting GRETSCH from Japan

Thats alot, the last time i was in Seoul.. i cant see any guitars shops.. sigh..

Well, here's a little tip for those who are planning to get to seoul korea to themselves an epiphone. i did a mont h of so of research and found this building.

Its call Nak Won Music Arcade near insadong. its basically a 4 storey building. most of the music shops are on the 2nd level and up. Believe it or not, its about 4-5km away from dongdaemun stadium. they have close to 400 music shops there for your eye oogling pleasure. All you need to do is get accommodations nearby the city and a taxi which would cost u less than S$5 to get there. Its absolutely a music heaven. Everything u need is over there. The shop i went to is a shop called GT-SOUND. located on level 2. But be aware that most of the shops close on sundays. Language can be a big barrier and it would be good to have a translator with you. but of course, some shops do speak english.

From my research while i was there, the cheapest of the guitars there are the epiphones. Extremely cheap.

Epi Les paul Standards = S$300
Epi les paul custom = S$400
Epi Black Beauty = S$450
EPI SG's = $200-250

Just a word of caution if you are heading down to get one. DO your home work cause there are rumors that there are some bootleg epi customs there. check the intergrity and other unusual lookings of the guitar. Headstock/ logo/ Serial number and etc. I was lucky and managed to find a NOS stashed in their store. Extremely good condition.

As for higher end fender, There are quite ex but still slightly cheaper than those in SG
Same goes for the gibsons as well.

And NO need to worry about tax. We are a free trade country unless you overdo it :D

HUB will have the best info on this. the man has a butt load all imported from japan. I'll need some pointers or 2 cause i am planning on a gretsch ordering from japan as well.

:D
