thinking of getting a Swing Prism Guitar

Fender has the heritage to consider about man!
Sure, MIJ Fenders (and perhaps some MIM) are the only ones you can get with that price, but with people like Brendon offering 1.5k for his two Americans around, offers this rare that pop out may challenge your desire to purchase the Swing..

can someone say exactly how is the swing better than the MIA fender/ MIA fender better than swing?
features wise- swing obviously.
quality wise- fender MIA's are known for inconsistant QC, and no one really knows much about swing...

get it man!get it!I beg you!haha.its a sweet guitar alright.love how close the acoustic simulator can be.the blend knob is plus too.

Lemme help elucidate on the Swing Prism.

Firstly, the finishing is superb, with every piece having consistent QC, unlike some Fender MIAs.
Secondly, Swing uses the top quality wood, and just by playing it without an amp, you can feel and hear the resonance.

Thirdly, it packs alot more features, and quality parts, you've got Gotoh, LR Baggs, Alpha Pots.

Fourthly, the design of the guitar. Such as the Contoured heel, which is not present in Fender guitars, the deeper inset lower cutaway to allow higher fret access, and a NUBone nut from Graphtech.

The feel of the neck is superb, modern C design and comfortable enough to play fast (even shred) on.

In Korea, its the best selling guitar brand. People choose Swing over fenders or Ibanezes. If you want a guitar with heritage and brand name, stick with Fender (i personally want a Fender too). If you are not bothered with heritage and brand name, but more concerned with quality and sound, my recommendation would be the Swing guitars.

In Singapore, the most value for money, having the highest grade of workmanship for an affordable price, would be Swing guitars and Marlique guitars, found at Standard Value. I've played quite a number of nice guitars over there, and the prices are all around a thousand odd or less...

One last point.. Fender was sold away by Leo Fender in light of his poor health. If you truly want a REAL Fender Strat, it should be a G&L Stratocaster, the last legacy of Leo Fender, who set it up with his partner, George Fullerton, both the original founders of Fender Company. The original design of the strat was further improved on, with various new patents. Fender continued the old design, at the high price, banking on their brand name. If you studied Fender, the difference between the MIA and MIM factories are like 40 miles apart. The MIA Factory is just like 20 miles away from the Mexican border... Oh and one more point.... MIJ Fenders are the ones with highest workmanship. Because when Japan Company bought over Fender in the 80s, all the original tools was moved to Japan, and the new factories were set up in USA and Mexico, with the intention of easy transportation. So an MIA Strat is actually 60% assembled in USA, with the other 40% done in the Mexican factory.

Swing on the other hand, is entirely Korean made, QC, to verify what i claimed about the Swing guitars, go try it out to see if what i say is the truth.. :)

this is tempting man.. now im thinking of a strat..

No need to think, just Buy! LOL... anyway, although this is a side track, you might be tempted to buy the Marlique PRS-type of guitar instead.. also great workmanship, made in indonesia, and features Telsa Plasma III (custom) pickups, that makes it sound even better than the Swing.. hear it to believe it man...

i'm not a pro fender or pro swing-
it takes many pros to try and feel fender guitars to say that the MIAs are not consistant with their qc.

it should take the same amount of pros to figure out it swing has the same qc as well.

there's pros and cons in this prism. being a super versatile workhorse isnt everyone's choice of guitar as well...
wad if i suddenly wan vintage leh??
wad if i suddenly wan SSS leh?

(i'm waiting for a pro-fender guy to post here wahhaah)

lancefury, do you work for standard value?

No i do not work for standard value. I just felt that as a fellow guitarist, i would like to introduce some good guitars which i believe is value for money. Likewise, if i say that the VOX Amps are City Music are really good for people who love crunch, giving a really nice tube sound, would i be working for City Music then?

And i wasn't keeping an eye on this thread, i have quite a number of things to do, hence quite busy sometimes to notice the going ons of this thread.

I didn't say all MIA strats have QC problem, i just said some. Might be a minority number. True enough that Swing might has QC problem as well, just that out of the number of Swing guitars i have tried did not have this problem. And yes, definitely people might want an SSS or a different type of versatility. However, i only suggested an alternative for people looking for a strat. There is nothing wrong with having more options and more guitars to choose.

My posts consists of my personal opinions and never have i masqueraded as a professional in anyway. I apologize if any of my sentences was a sweeping statement and offended anybody. It was not intended to be so. Since this was a Swing Prism guitar thread, i have tried to keep to the topic and offered additional information on Swing guitar based on my own experiences from playing around with them. If my input isn't welcome, then i would gladly refrain from participating in threads.

inconsistent QC, gibson anyone?

but u also have to consider the resale value. it will definitely be harder to sell a swing guitar than a fender due to the mindsets of the people in the market. they're not used to a less known brand so they may not be willing to pay for it.

i guess simplicity is the best u can ever want in playing guitar. u wont want to have so many choices such that you dont know what to use. for me i guess variety suits me. i rather have a few guitars having few choices, than one having all choices. dunno it just feels more right. like why try make ur strat sound like a tele or a lespaul or an acoustic when u can actually have more choices by getting the real thing instead?

Yes i understand what you mean... Unknown brands tend to have less resale value... but if a brand gets recognised, then its sale value goes up and becomes more expensive.. i guess thats marketing liow le... Hopefully Swing will still stay affordable for the people who wants to buy it...

lancefury dude.... no need to get all defensive. It was just a casual comment, but then you've told us more than we need to know.

chill and have a cold one.
