Thinkin of getting telecasters...

hi guys, i am thinking of getting a MIJ telecaster, what do you guys think? is it worth it? I heard from a fren its quite cheap in japan, the standard one only costs SGD 550 for a new one..

You should be able to get the lowest end MIJ tele at around that price, excluding shipping and insurance.

bro since your friend can buy back from japan from you, i advise against the TL-50...it has a toploader bridge, less sustain than strings thru body but easier on bends..top up a hundred plus or two and you get a more genuine tele, alder body with US vintage pickups..that's the TL62-75US..just an advice...if u think you still like the TL-50 then go for it..

yep that's the one...alder and ash will produce different tones...if you are looking for humbucker equipped then that would be a good choice, because if you get the 62 RI and decide to drop a single coil sized hum you wouldn't get close to a real humbucker sound...another advice - try out various models at guitar 77 and decide which one you like best...not all avail though..

top loading and back loading and sustain are not really inter-related.

its just perceived as it is.

top loading easier to bend strings.

You have to decide whether you like humbuckers or singlecoils yourself...

imo the Basswood teles sound different, not necessarily worse.

Whatever is on Ishibashi page, your friend probably will find it quite easy to get. Fixed prices, Ishibashi shops easy to find as well.

Then I'm afraid you're looking for it the wrong way. They only way to find one is for you to go hunt for one yourself. You need to try the guitar. Imagine if your friend comes back wtih a great price, but a dud? Then the guitar doesn't seem like such a good deal anymore? :roll:
