they say that in the army...

I heard from my friend who just completed his contract with the army. he say that being an army regular is no longer an iron rice bowl, cos nowadays there are alot of people signing on, so they get to pick and choose. So if u reach a certain rank and ur performance is not up to expectations they may not renew ur contract. My friend's friend who is a staff sergeant was asked to leave the service, cos they deem him as surplus and now he is at lost on wat to do.

Sometimes people sign on because they want to support their families. i noe of one regular who signed on to see his girlfriend thru university only to get dumped by her.Sign on for the correct reasons and always have a backup option in case u wanna leave.

talked to a few regulars during my NS. Most of them regret signing on becos they only think of the short term benefits. They din think long term. They say that they are more or less stuck in the army now, cos they don have any relevant experience for the jobs in the civilian world. And to start all over again from scratch is really daunting. Unless u can see urself in green uniform for more than 10 or more years, then sign on. If not then don, don be lured by the short term monetary benefits. Think carefully.

Hate to say this but alot of ex CSMs / Encik actually went to work as kopi tiam assistants.... my keyboardist hired an ex RSM for a general worker position in his business school....

now I understand these guys actually get channel as operation officers for schools (the lucky ones that is)
