They are Back! - Ibanez Maple Fingerboard

Edge III because it's restricted to the RG3XX models... unless it's offered in other series (S/ SA/ SZ etc...), the 'come back' factor remains a commercial hype...

already own a maple fretboard RG... :smt069

maple board,,, hmm. besides the look, is there any difference in tone, when compared with a rosewood board?

there is an enhanced brightness in the upper frequencies, very beneficial to neck humbuckers (especially under high gain settings).

then again, some people hear it, some don't...

Some dudes like John Suhr and Malcolm say that Maple fretboards aren't brighter than Rosewood, its the other way round. Pretty interesting!

Anyway, I really do like the way the Edge III looks... if it were made on the same level of quality and consistancy as the Edge/Lo pro, I would want 1.

i go to it for the LOOKS, personally i like rosewood. i would love to try those lespauls that had the maple necks that were made in the 70s though, different sort of mojo

I think it is quite interesting: I just went to the Ibanez/Singapore website, the one and only maple fretboard guitar you can find there is.... PGM301

Actually I find Ibanez Maple offering should feel and look much nicer than Fenders ( Maybe because of the lacquer finish which i personally don't really like )

it's actually the rosewood type- Brazillian version is allegedly brighter.

the Fenders of today (mostly American models) are devoid of that yucky lacquer.
