i didn't bother reading through the rest of this thread.
but, you DO know 'indie' stands for independent music, ie. music not signed to any of the major big-4 labels right?
i dno. is it really a genre enough to warrant a particular type of guitar sound?
strange strange genres we're getting these days.
the only things uniquely 'indie' that the indie kids these days do are like skinny pants and beret-cap-things and badges on their shirts and all that nonsense.

meaning of indie? depends on which era you've been living in. hahahaa

Indie fashion Pt 1.... think Madchester Baggy. Think Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, James
Indie fashion Pt 2.... think Floral big collared shirts, bell bottoms. Think 70's psychedelia, probably think Smashing Pumpkins Gish
Indie fashion Pt 3... thrift store fashion. Think Sonic Youth, Sebadoh, Pavement
and probably a lot more.

indie does not mean anything... so is alternative. just little convenient tags. I play indie-death-metal-ambient-industrial-gore-core cos I'm unsigned. :D

In my opinion, Indie's just a term people use to describe music that's uncommon and different. Indie music gives you a certain kick mainstream music can't. =)

Genres are frustrating sometimes.

Caracal all the way!!

hmm..
i thought indie stands for independent?
those bands that dont have a label or something..
then it somehow grew.. and indie bands are those considered to sound like...... indie bands?
typical sounds of an indie band is like Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Bloc Party, etc etc..
kinda british sound to it i guess.. pardon me if im wrong..;-)

actually singapore has pioneered probably the earliest and most pure form of indie music, which has been around for decades and till today cannot be found in other countries. it is called VOID DECK music. totally independent, no label, no airplay, no shit

anyway to answer your question... i think REVERB could do the trick
