I like Marty Friedman's tone on Loudspeaker... the more I listen to it, the nicer it gets. His tone on earlier albums was horrid IMO but this album, man...

I find using a mahogany bodied guitar with thick, saturated drive (bordering on fuzz) pedals can cop the tone when comparing mp3s.

But heck. The variety of tones he uses on that album is quite mind boggling to me... all share roughly the same characteristics of a fuzz-ish, saturated distortion but so much variety. Some cliche sounds on the album too lah...



Isn't the JP lead tone like... his neck pup. Just get some glassy fat neck pup and use lots of gain, pretty much there in an mp3 sense.

Hm, with my AX1500G and onboard cube30 effects.. i have no idea how to sound 'similar' to metallica...trivium these kind of metal tones.

Which distortion doesnt sound fuzzy like they use? Or is it the way they play?

I've watch before Children of bodom playing vivaldi and wtf is the string effect, sound exactly the same as violin.

with my GAX70, ME50 and cube 15 i can get a tone that will blow you away. No la. Erm it can produce a classic rock crunch or a kick ass metallica/trivium etc etc distortion

I like a big, over-the-top fuzziness which is also dynamic and sweet. I use the Tubezone in conjunction with this pedal called the Monsterpiece Two-headed Fuzz.

I use my Frenzel amp with a Fab Distortion for a raw, woody(?), throaty sound.

I use a strat with a blues 2 (what amp model is this?) setting on my DA-5.

im using a gt8 i jus bought over the weekend, and now i want every guitar gods tone!!!

ah but im getting lotsa headache creating my own patches, sooo confusing.. its like, 10times more difficult than my previous korg ax1500g.
can anyone show me how to actually use this monster, i actually read the whole damn manual(almost) and im still confused.

the gears (not gonna go into guitars)

Pickups i use are various duncan and dimarzio models

Crate Blue Voodoo with 6L6 power tubes and 12ax7 pre-amp tubes
gives me all the cleans i need.

for anything else i just plug my boss gt6 in (not much of an analog person coz there's no need for it just yet)

Lets say, Guthrie Govan, Andy timmons.. That kind, but not just copies of their tone la! :lol:

Using a blackstone OD in conjunction with a drive (not fuzz!) pedal gets me there, and Im very happy with the results!

what amp are you using BTW? You are using stupid box to boost your amp? If you are using a Mark IV or Road King, i'll say you are close to his lead tone.

haha! i use the stupid box as my main distortion, im using a vox ad50vt but with semi-sleepless nights experimenting the settings on various pedals. im getting there, but not yet. next step. randolf ds1 heh heh
