next i is gots to see is a d'pergo. theres so much commotion on tgp that i gotta jump the wagon too. hmm someones gotta open a shop and bring in andersons, grosh, melancons, lentz, rice, thorn, jg and all that other amazing shit. i need to induce gas on myself. esp a thorn. prob my next guitar in 5yrs if i give up the idea of a nice soldano slo.

fwah see the pickguard already know what guitar this is. its a james tyler studio elite. nice! did it set u back a pretty penny?

yup bro you're right, it's a SE HD. Wanted one in schmear actually but that would've set me back a much prettier penny....maybe next time la. Old liao wallet fatter then easier la...or so I think.

you wanna try a d'pergo and lentz? I can arrange for you...

haha better not let me try, in fact ive no doubt that a lentz or a d'pergo would prob slay my suhr. i love vintage shit to be honest. but i dont think i could live with the nitro wearing out. ok maybe on my second guitar id love that and further more id put stuff like that to waste cos im still a metal guitarist at heart. imagine buying a d'pergo to run into a high gain amp. ok wait im already doing such atrocities with my suhr ahahaha. and best that i dont buy 2 strats. i wants to try a thorn. anyone out there gots one?

That's prob only if you're going for a vintage vibe bro. :) Suhrs are solid instruments, seem to be relatively consistent quality and tone wise as well. Abit more of the modern strat thingy goin on for the Suhrs though imo. Tylers also lidat.

The Lentz was an interesting creature...I don't normally like chunky necks, but this Lentz had one, and it got more comfy the longer I played on it. Never happened with other chunky necks before.

Hope you find your Thorn

newest addition (modification) to one of my strats...

"The "Summer of Love" doesn't have to end- the '69 Strat pickups have the tone you'll fall in love with. Own the tone that defined an era. For a short period in the late 60's, Fender® used a height staggered Alnico 5's and a special grey bobbin which produced clear, transparent highs and thumping lows. Each pickup is created, dated, and initialed by Abigail Ybarra who has been winding pickups for Fender since the late 50's. OEM on the Custom Shop '69 Stratocaster®. Available in white only. Sold only as a set of 3."

What can I say man... they sound like sweetness defined!!! Inspired by my 65' CS Relic. Wish I tried these earlier... Very nice pups...

Ok guys, I promised some pics of the Tyler when it arrived, so here goes:

DSC00509.jpg

Not a particularly lightweight fella, weighing in at 7.7lbs, but it must contribute to the great tone I'm hearing.

Tyler JTS 2500 single coils in neck and mid position, and Tyler/Duncan Trembucker in the bridge. Demeter Midboost bypass button (small round white one) with level knob (yes the lonely black one). Wilkinson VS100 trem(very sturdy).

Just a few more to follow...

Those locking sperzels with pearl knobs are kinda cool...

Notice the scalloping done on the edge of the fingerboards - a Tyler trademark that makes the neck feel so very broken in and comfy.

Really very thankful that I could chance on this used piece in almost mint condition. Been saving up for some time to get a Tyler SE...I'm a happy lad. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.
