10 reasons why you must be at the National Stadium on Saturday

1.It is the last ever international football match to be played at the National Stadium

2.Our Lions are playing in a crucial must-win World Cup Qualifier and they need you to be their 12th man against the mighty Saudis

3.Opponents Saudi Arabia are one of the top five teams in Asia and have qualified for the past four World Cup Finals

4.Our Lions have never beaten Saudi Arabia in six previous attempts. You could be there to witness history if we win on Saturday

5.Reigning AFC Player of the Year Yasser Al Qahtani will be leading the attack for the Green Falcons

6.You will experience the Kallang Roar for one last time at the National Stadium

7.You can do the Kallang Wave for one last time at the National Stadium

8.You can shout Referee Kayu for one last time at the National Stadium

9.The National Stadium will hear you sing Majulah Singapura for one final time

10.You can eat curry puffs, keropok and drink kopi on the wooden bench seats of the National Stadium for the last time

So ppl, show ur support for the Lions for the last time at the National Stadium :)

But drinks and food there are so expensive. Who the hell will buy.

But anyhow, I'm going! (: In crutches. Will they let me in?

Eh kdash, go for the sale in the morning la. I'm going in the morning lol.

cannot lah, working half day on Sat morning, after that got church band practice. maybe i'll rush down to SL then after that head to National Stadium lor. Sims Drive not too far from Kallang.

BYOF: Bring Your Own Food :)

Drink bottles are not allowed though. Tats a bummer. I expect our Lions to put up a good fight even if we don't qualify to the next round. Who knows, this might be a springboard for future improvement and success ;)

Everybody say it with me! The chant below is going to heard for the last time at the National Stadium : P

Peep peep peep peep peep peep peep peep peep B****!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, had to edit the last word or else I`ll get into trouble by the moderators..but I`m sure u guys know what tat is :)

SG 0 - Saudi 2

it's a poor performance by the lions, the defence was very sluggish.

but my hats off to Hassan Sunny, easily the best performer for the game.

Yep, not a very good performance by the Lions n tat allowed the Saudis to run all over them with speed n agility. Indra, as usual, wasn't at his best. Duric, I think, had 2 chances wasted. Was expecting a swan song result but it was not meant to be. Even the Kallang Wave nearly didn't happened after a few false starts. When it finally happened, the Saudi crowd joined in too :)

One plus point though, Hassan Sunny was outstanding in saving at least 4 shots from the Saudis. With a performance like tat, he can easily claim No 1 spot from Lionel Lewis.

So the Lions are out of the competition. Theres nothing to be ashamed of,as we have never gone this far. There's still one more game next week against Lebanon to salvage some pride. We can look forward to this year's ASEAN cup, by that time, Noh Alam Shah will be back :)

i guess so, there was much hype about the match being the very last match in the National Stadium.

anyway Hassan Sunny was magnificent

the only reason why the national team didn't do well was because we were without Nor Alam Shah.

he is Singapore's Didier Drogba.

they're playing styles are similar.

but till he serves out his ban, we'll just have to be patient.

if i had it my way, this would be my first 11.

GK: Yazid Yassin
LB: Ali Imran Lomri
LCB: S.Subramani
RCB:Rafi Ali
RB:Ong Leong Khon
LW:Jeykanth Jeyapal
LCM:Gusta Guzarishah
RCM: aidil sharin(aide iskandar's brother)
RM:Khairul Amri
FW:Nor Alam Shah
FW:Indra Shahdan

Krist: That could be the reason, but then again...its always the case of what ifs...hahaha..I love to NAS back in action..to me, he`s Alam Shahrer, a pun on Alan Shearer :) Someone who is agressive and not afraid to take on defenders. The next captain?

And the first 11 u listed here, its this the all time first 11?

10-15 yrs ago, police officers were given free tickets to bring their families, watch Police FC whenever the team plays in the league.

my father, bro and i attended all their matches.

there were 5 brazilians in the team, including the head coach.

Police FC then became Home United, home ground being Bishan stadium.

we had very few supporters. we played badly, week in, week out.

i attended every home game without fail.

most of the guys who play football in Bishan were loyal supporters as well.

always turning up in full support of their local team.

Robert Alberts came along. so did Zcolt Bucs, ernest tapai, etc.

good players from the Police FC and Home U prime league team started to emerge.

season after season, we improved.

many pple started supporting Home United. the stadium became full.

cheerleaders were brought in for half time entertainment.

various police units exhibited their skills too, KINS, K9, etc..

the confidence in the team began to show and players were scoring from halfway line, directly from corner kicks, etc.

finally becoming champion in 1999.

yes, i am serious.

Gusta Guzarishah scored straight from a corner against Gombak, if i can remember correctly.

im 23 this year.

so the players i put up in my previous post, to me are the best since i was 12.

i can name u 22 players in total. but i'll stop at 11.

and i've not mentioned about Tamil Marren, Azhar Baksin, etc..

Pple are ignorant of this and i hate to be the one telling them this.

Nor Alam Shah is, currently, the complete striker where singapore football is concerned.

only his temperament.

we need to look at other possibilities for places in the national team.

so yea, hopefully, we can fly our flag up high again, where football is concerned.

Its the Brazil Olympic Squad against the Lions plus S-League selection today at 8pm! Anybody going? Would like to go but the ticket price....ahahaha :P

They say the one with Saudi was the last game at National Stadium..aiyah...they never stick to their words.

Hell man.........we got thrashed 3-0. Frankly i expected a higher scoreline because:

1. I thought we'd be good for at least 1 goal.
2. I expected the Brazilians to score at least 5

Overall, it was a good performance for our side, we showed that heart and soul can make up partially for lack of skill, especially the John Terry-like defending on display. I truly believe that this kinda defending is the exact kind needed to take Singapore football to the next level. Problem was, where our defence was good, our attack was muted and vice versa. We need to find consistency in these areas as we have the players to take the game to the other football powerhouses of the world. The midfield as usual was effecient and effective and this is definitely the strong point of our team. Build on the other 2 parts and we've got a complete team, especially with Noh Alam Shah coming back soon.
