The Singapore Football Scene Thread

Yea, some lapse of concentration in our defence conceded that goal.

But think of it this way, there's nothing to be ashamed to lose to an opposition that ranked 70 places above us in the FIFA rankings. We put up a good fight and showed that we didn't give up till the final whistle blew.

Oh, btw, Saudi beat Lebanon 2-1, which means Singapore is all but out unless we can score an avalanche of goals to Saudi and Lebanon resepectively hahaha..very unlikely I know.

But after all of our WCQ matches are finished, we can look back and hold our heads up high as we have never gone this far in the WCQ round.

I tot Goal 2010 was renamed as Own Goal 2010. :-D

There's also word that Goal 2012 has been instituted and named as -
Goal 2012 - GST 10%

i watched the match on Sat. i thought the sg team was so much better than last monday, unfortunately we conceded the goal. sg's defending still needs some work, but i'm glad to see the improvement. proud of our efforts too :)

don't give up hope yet! we may still surprise Saudi and Lebanon :)

Can't wait for this Sat..hoping for a good performance from the Lions.

Too bad, Mustafic Fahrudin is suspended for this Sat's match :(

I heard from KallangRoar that Isa Halim might be a suitable replacement for Fahrudin. Isa was outstanding with his no-nonsense defending back in Tashkent.

I think we really lack goals from the striker department. Indra Sahdan Daud isn't the marksman he used to be. Duric has the strength n agression to take on defenders but not speedy though.

We miss Noh Alam Shah...he`ll be available from next mth in time for the ASEAN Championships this year end :)

Come on, u Lions, beat the Saudis!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea............Khairul has speed but he's quite scared to shoot. Qiu Li is a like for like replacement for Alam Shah tho....strong, quick, bags of skill, not afraid to shoot frm long range. Same age even. I do think that he and Khairul will be a good partnership up front.

I think Qiu Li should be given a start n who knows if NAS comes back, NAS-Qiu Li partnership can be very effective...imagine 4-3-1-2, with Khairul playing behind them..hahaha

Woooo.......u gotta have dreams don't u? But i think it shld be a 4-1-2-1-2, with Qiu Li and NAS up front, Wilkinson behind the strikers, Khairul and Fazrul on the wings to provide pace and to cut in occasionally, Mustafic to anchor the midfield and the rest as per normal. Duric can be a replacement for either of the strikers or the playmaker.

wow this attack sounds mouth-watering haha

Isa Halim would be a good replacement. but i think Fahrudin will still be missed. he has great presence in the midfield. was all over the place against Uzbek last week.
