pickups

Yo folks.

Just ordered a Dimarzio DP188 Pro Track online for my yellow RG. For the neck. Bloody high output humbucker conceal in a single coil size. (DP184 Chopper was considered as well.)

Still sticking to Dimarzio bcos they can gimme coloured cover...

Will post pics when customising is done.

I've not heard of the bands' music stated above but is their sound so unique or specific that any other regular electric guitar(aka pickups) can't replicate?

If I were you and say... I like this one particular band... say...

Radiohead (Easy target!!)

I'll do a search on google on their equipment and gear etc and get some insight on their gear. Maybe you'd like to do that?

Cos from experience... many kind of guitars(aka pickups) sounds can get the close to the other. Rickenbackers are hard to emulate though... hur hur hur...

my lipstick pickup on my tele, like lacks power man. HOW?!

Phanto, your description of the neck pickup as lipsticks reminds me of an old post here.

Tele neck pickups are not lipsticks.

Tele neck no power? then get a humbucker sized tele neck to replace it.

Or get those quarterpounders from Seymour Duncans.

Or get those quartepounders lookalike from Guitar Fetish aka GFS. Cheap, well made and sounds decent for the price. BUT I've no experience with the quarterpounders kind. Just the rest of their pickups.

Do a search on google for the companies mentioned. A lot of good stuff there.

oh well. it just sounds really mild and is a huge difference from the bridge pickup which is so twangy and crunchy. i cant get a humbucker, i want a single coil kinda thing. but nothing for hard rock/metal or classic rock type. something bright and cutting but slightly milder

plus, when i switch to the neck. i have to turn the volume up cuz its so soft. and when i switch back to bridge i have to immediately cut the volume by 1/4

like what edder and gsonique has touch on, the pickup height adjustment shud solved the problem.

If still finding the pickkup weak, then this mod is pretty useful, imho.

heh... i didn't mentioned the pickup height. yeah... that may help but that may choke up the sustain as well if not adjusted properly.

wolftone as they like to call it. WOOF WOOF.

Big ass Quarter pounder pole pieces are as loud as they come. BANG BANG.

Get a Vox AC30!!! You see how many Radiohead use for their live shows?

Btw, they have 3 guitarists. Which one you wanna emulate?

so if i wanna get a new neck pup, which is that single covered round one which i called "lipstick" earlier, what is there to choose from, that is warm and bright, but not twangy but relatively medium output.

budget about ~120
