A motley crew is a cliché for a roughly-organized assembly of characters.

cedric mentioned "no disrespect to motley crue", regarding any possible inspiration from the other nominees. so some play of words, but all in good nature i'm sure

i'm also shocked at the coldplay win. and of all songs to have won it for them too. i'm absolutely certain that their previous, unrewarded work and their reputation weighed heavily in their favour, rather than the winning song and album themselves. on their own they surely wouldn't have carried any weight. but lets not give a shit about coldplay. they can take their place next to r&b and country (white version of 'black music')
