my favorite line "im only a child yet i know we're part of a family 5 billion strong, in fact 30 million species strong. and borders and government will never change that"

applause. we need these kind of people.

and did u know that there's a youth version of UN in this world where there are delegates in their teens who gather in iforgotwhatcountry to have like those UN meetings. man i forgot what organisation is that.

EDIT: think there are a few for example http://www.thimunsingapore.org/

Great speaker, her dad wrote half her speech? She sounded way too mature(term-wise).

That's one of the comments written on Youtube, lol.

I had doubts, though. I know really intelligent 13 year olds who can seriously pwn alot of adults with the way they write.

Irregardless of whether her dad wrote it or not, she still got incredible guts to speak in an assembly of world leaders.

THIMUN is not a youth version of the UN per se. It is a simulated conference whereby delegates (usually at high-school / tertiary level) take on the roles as UN delegates of assigned countries. This means that if I were to take part in THIMUN, I may be taking on the role of being the UN delegate of Afghanistan, even though I'm from Singapore. The objective of these conferences is mainly educational; to illustrate the workings of international relations and diplomacy, and on another level, for students to learn more about the country they represent. What this means would be that, THIMUN delegates may discuss issues relevant to society today (and even offer solutions) such as HIV pandemic, or even the current economic changes but whatever decisions or resolutions pushed forth are likely unrealistic and have no impact on the real world whatsoever.

If you are interested in such UN conferences, there are quite a few conducted annually at a local level. For secondary schools, there is the Raffles Model United Nations (RMUN). However, I'm not too sure if this still takes place anymore. For JCs, there is the Singapore International United Nations Conference (SIMUN) which is organised by and held at the French School (Lycee Francaise De Singapour), which features a mix of international students (from the international schools here) and local students. There is also the UN conference organised by the History Society of NUS. Internationally, there are quite a number - e.g. THIMUN.

Please do not confuse thimuns and the other muns with genuine youth conferences or organisations commited to changing the world.

Still i think she made a huge effort on her part . Unfortunately , the world isn't dominated by idealists
