the day u gave up on radio

i only listen to gold 90 and symphony 92.4 .
only turn to 98.7 FM for muttons to midnight. they never fail to crack me up HAHA.

but yeah, i'll get sick and tired of listening to the same song over and over again on the radio. whenever i tune in to 98.7, i'll be hearing the wondergirls going i want nobody nobody but chiuu maybe twice, thrice or even four times. that was when i wanted to tune in to something else.

hoping they would turn to playing other songs than just hit singles.

anyway, i would care less for radio playing the same thing over and over again. i wont be missing out as buying albums and hearing and appreciating ALL the songs is the most enjoyable for me.

i listen to radio for all the lastest hits so that i can sing along with my friends. i love pop songs!

not all radio is bad.... although i stopped listening to it...haw...
one time, my dad called me just to tell me that smoke on the water was on radio....so...its not all bad.

yeah, my friend called me to tell me, highway star was playing on the radio, lol.

The less talk the better, just continuous classic hits.

Spot on!

I just dont get the point of having to listen to a bunch of noisy people on the radio and very little music. Are their crap talk called music?

Radio is dying.Even the cars have to turn to their cd player because of these people's nonsense.

I don't listen to radio at home. But Gold 90 FM is always on default in my car. Light and easy listening is the way to go when I drive. And I don't tune in to those stations that play endless hip-hops, Mariah Careys and soapy Mandarin ballads.

+1 on hating the chit chat

The on air banter between the DJ's is god awful. If your friend made jokes like these guys you would punch him in the face. And the patronising inspirational new age platitudes?! enough already. The advertising and product endorsements disguised as conversation....who do they think they are fooling? The only time I listen to radio is when I'm forced to in a taxi and it makes me want to buy a car...with a cd player.

I'm the type who likes a very wide range of musical genres, classical and soprano included (I used to hate that stuff). I'm listening by default to Gold 90 and Lush 99.5. But I have some gripes with radio stations in general.

My main gripes:
- At my area, reception to a lot of stations (especially Power 98 ) is very poor and no matter how I fine tune, all I get is static.
- The radio hosts talk too much!
- Some stations rarely tell you the name of the song and the artist, so you hear a nice song but can't find it because you don't know the title and the artist.
- Many stations play the same songs over and over again.

I like blues and jazz and oldies. I like George Micheal, MJ, Eric Clapton (only Gold 90 still plays Layla, Tears in Heaven and Wonderful Tonight, always does magic at night when it's on the radio), and "Pilot of the Airwaves", awesome song. All the BeeGees stuff and The Beatles (especially with the current craze going on). "Leaving on a jetplane" (ironically that's how John Denver 'left'), Country Road, Stand by Me, and tons more.

Gold 90, a lot of memories too. Only thing is the stupid Harvey Norman game early in the morning, although kind funny listening to it sometimes, oh, and did I mention the bloody annoying Subaru advertisement? That's probably the only thing that turns me off.

Inform me when they finally have a rock station in Singapore. As in REAL ROCK music not Miley Crapus or Jonas Faggots. Or at least play more classic rock and keep that hermaphrodite's po-po-po-pokerface crap away. THEN I'll reconsider listening to the radio.

Agree. They should do away with Ah seng. He's irritating!

Yeah it's really irritating sometimes especially when you're trying to get some rest on the car in the mornings before reaching school, but I thought the recent one poking fun of Singaporeans who go away for a year and then coming back with a slang was pretty funny lol.

Just today, i was in a cab with my friends and suddenly Let It Be by The Beatles was playing on Gold90 and i suddenly realised i havent listened to radio for a long long time.

I guess the main reason why i quit listening to radio is mainly due to the same reasons as most Softies here such as songs being overplayed, too many hit singles etc etc. And, i think i can relate to what RedHot is feeling about local radio although his comments may have been a little harsh.
