Just today, i was in a cab with my friends and suddenly Let It Be by The Beatles was playing on Gold90 and i suddenly realised i havent listened to radio for a long long time.

I guess the main reason why i quit listening to radio is mainly due to the same reasons as most Softies here such as songs being overplayed, too many hit singles etc etc. And, i think i can relate to what RedHot is feeling about local radio although his comments may have been a little harsh.

it was abit harsh for a reason. pent up anger at the steep decline of quality radio stations over the years. if gold 90.5 fm dies, god save radio...

Inform me when they finally have a rock station in Singapore. As in REAL ROCK music not Miley Crapus or Jonas Faggots. Or at least play more classic rock and keep that hermaphrodite's po-po-po-pokerface crap away. THEN I'll reconsider listening to the radio.

Actually Gold does play some classic rock songs. I think you've been listening to the wrong stations.

yea...its ONLY that station. at least chinese stations play ballads and more easy-on-the-ear songs than the so-called happening stations. considering i dun even like chinese, thats gotta mean something right?

i thought i was weird cuz i'm the only metalhead nsman who listens to gold 90.5 but it seems that i have other weirdo friends here on soft haha.i gave up on 98.7 and power 98 a long time ago,and since class 95 sold out to rap n r&b a few years ago i listen exclusively to gold 90fm when i do turn on the radio(which is quite rare nowadays).UPZZ TO GOLD 90 FM!!!

That reminds me..when I was in my friend's car, I remember hearing Jump by Van Halen playing on Gold 90 FM during the evening and the segment was hosted by Brian Richmond

Agreed, Gold 90.5 is the only station that is tolerable for long periods of time. However, let me just say that Power 98 on Saturdays from 9pm to midnight is freaking awesome. The pool hall that I frequent tunes in to Power 98 most of the time, so I was there one Sat night and the music was unbelievably good - a lot of rock classics including Hotel California from Hell Freezes Over, and they even played a live version of Megadeth's A Tout Le Monde. I couldn't believe my ears...Megadeth on Singapore radio!? Even went closer to the speaker to make sure I wasn't delusional

The dj must have been a rock fan. Besides RIA 89.7, there's another station that has a timeslot dedicated to rock genre. I've tuned once but can't remember which station and what time, anyone knows?
