hey guys just curious ... besides places like MOS , Baybeats and all ...which was the best smalltime venue that you played in where the sound just kicked your ass when you were rockin the stage... gashaus is OUT!
I have done many gigs with many diffirent acts over the years but these are the ones that come to mind in terms of venue, sound and vibe (in no particular order of merit)
1. Esplanade main concert hall with BDS Band in the Gold 90.5 Memories gig. Fantastic accoustics and great soundcrew.
2. Gold 90.5 Concert in the Park at Fort Canning with my band Shades - around 7K ppl who ROCKED...
3. National Day Sharity Land gig at Marina area - abt 10k ppl - ROCKED with oldies band "The Esquires"
4. American Association concert at Fort Canning with Country band "The Mavericks" and having several thousand foot stomping Yanks dance to "Devil went down to Georgia".
5. The Esplanade open air stage shows with Shyyne and several others - always a pleasure to play there because of sporting crorwd & great sound crew.
6. Mediacorp's 1992 New Year's eve countdown show live on TV broadcast from Harbourfront - we had to mime to the song but great atmosphere & party mood by several thousand ppl.
These gigs will live with me for a long time to come
no no no you got me wrong hahaha... excluding places that are bound to have great sound system.. i'm talking like budget venues... you when our bands first started out we def played at some really small dodgy venues but the sound did justice...
HAHA school hall was the crappiest for me, invited to perform on stage and i used my old 15 watt amp to blast throughout the hall, and half of the hall couldn't hear me
