hey guys just curious ... besides places like MOS , Baybeats and all ...which was the best smalltime venue that you played in where the sound just kicked your ass when you were rockin the stage... gashaus is OUT!

i'll start ...

1) House of Rock
2) Hougang mall
3)

I have done many gigs with many diffirent acts over the years but these are the ones that come to mind in terms of venue, sound and vibe (in no particular order of merit)

1. Esplanade main concert hall with BDS Band in the Gold 90.5 Memories gig. Fantastic accoustics and great soundcrew.

2. Gold 90.5 Concert in the Park at Fort Canning with my band Shades - around 7K ppl who ROCKED...

3. National Day Sharity Land gig at Marina area - abt 10k ppl - ROCKED with oldies band "The Esquires"

4. American Association concert at Fort Canning with Country band "The Mavericks" and having several thousand foot stomping Yanks dance to "Devil went down to Georgia".

5. The Esplanade open air stage shows with Shyyne and several others - always a pleasure to play there because of sporting crorwd & great sound crew.

6. Mediacorp's 1992 New Year's eve countdown show live on TV broadcast from Harbourfront - we had to mime to the song but great atmosphere & party mood by several thousand ppl.

These gigs will live with me for a long time to come

no no no you got me wrong hahaha... excluding places that are bound to have great sound system.. i'm talking like budget venues... you when our bands first started out we def played at some really small dodgy venues but the sound did justice...

THOA - trickest melody line I have ever played doing the fiddle part on guitar.

Shamraj - oic ..my bad, will think & let U know

Fav smalltime venue:

BLUES TAVERN (now closed - formerly at Tanglin Mall)

Suns at Hard Rock in the early 90s were kinda Ok-ish...

Party Doll Club (at Clarke Quay) - now closed

Golden Landmark hotel Lounge - some wild theme nights there

Currently: TERRY'S TAVERN IN KATONG

Judging by the "several thousand foot stomping Yanks" line, you pulled it off, heh. :D

HAHA school hall was the crappiest for me, invited to perform on stage and i used my old 15 watt amp to blast throughout the hall, and half of the hall couldn't hear me :(

school halls also tend to have terrible reverb and you can't hear what the hell is going on unless you've got monitors ;)

remembered playing at dunman secondary's graduation ceremony, that was fun

school audtiotorium, but we had a 1k a day sound crew to come in for 2days :D

vox ac30s, roland jazz120s.

smoke machine and lighting.

good times

lol. my school gig was like the 2nd worst nightmare for me. Mic was not turn on and the crew there kinda deaf too. KILL THEM !

shymraj... I meant SUNDAY ...clik on my blog and my identity will be revealed..I aint no justin...

my school hall gig wasn't that bad. Except it was damn hot. And teachers coming up on stage halfway to scold students totally ruined the atmosphere...

best venue...... hmmm, dxo? or maybe Arts House, anyways, speaking of gigs, you guys know any gig coming up that has an avalible slot???

my best venue a long time ago ...is at the void deck ..
a wedding dinner /reception bla..

so easy ..no need for slot , sound check ..just plug and play ...and no selling of tix or any other crap .....

another is substation ..hehe kinda cool depend on the organizer really..
auditorium ..cc or schools

Some club, venue ..i dun quite like ...but thats just me

cheers..

Probably the best for me was at ngee ann poly during the red camp...I certainly did not expect the crowd to cheer and rock out with us... 8)
