Though I have been jamming for years now, I've tried many sorts of jamming studios around Singapore (although I didn't get the chance to try all)... so here are my personal best/worst and why:
Top 3:
- Soundmix (it's closed now, such a waste... Big room, and great equipment, friendly guy)
- Beat Merchants (decent price, decent location, decent equipment)
- Lee Kwong Seng (decent price, bad location, bad equipment, friendly auntie!, room's quite cramp I must say...)
Worst 3:
- Seng Chai (don't waste your time, unless you're a slow rock/pop rock/easy music player. Heavy metallist should avoid, auntie being VERY unfriendly, just walks in and turn off your amp when the time is up. decent location, BAD EQUIPMENT, BAD AUNTIE!)
- Wee Lee (somewhere very close the Aljunied MRT station, I've been banned there. The uncled labelled us "watched too much MTV". Reason? I don't really know. Just because we wore all black, doesn't mean we play heavy-black-death-gore-satanic-screaming-gothic-metal, if you know what I mean. I actually booked that place, but upon reaching he say "you again? You cannot play here". I think he's looking for nerdy ppl, and jazz players, cause most of his customers are partly old-timers. great location, decent price, well, bad uncle!)
- Simei (I think called Wee Lee also) (overall I hate this place. Although I admit going there a number of times, but I just hate it. The uncle is friendly, the place is ok... but it's just bad for me. Maybe it's the location? It's wayyyyyyyyy to far for me, inaccessible. Great price, bad equipment, bad location)
That's about it...
Oh ya, you guys heard of X-studios? (That's X-Tech studios) It's near Chinese Garden. Should try. I tried once, but not enough for me to judge it...
And, I want to know where is this jamming studio located at Toh Guan... Any address? I don't mind travelling, I just liked to explore more places.
Cheers guys!
