The AWARE saga

Can the world just end right now? These people are just conjuring something needless out of their boredom.

Well the issue of lesbianism can be refered to the US pageant (about gay marriage) where a spokes-person mentioned that life is about Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.LOL!

Well one way or another its about same sex marriage.I for one is against it.Its a personal thing.

Seems to be just another pro and anti-gay thing to me... which is exactly the kind of issue that would garner so much unwarranted attention since it's in bladdy Singapore!

Gay issues are overrated lah. Helping dying and underprivileged people are more worth our time.

Sure. And let them (and their good pastor) force more religious beliefs and dogmas down people's throat.

Fair enough, but we never really even given them a chance to show what they can do. Paranoid people immediately started protesting when they found out that fact. Yet again, I believe in a "You'll never know till you try" philosopy anyway.

Although I find it funny that no one will think the same if it was any other religion. *shrugs*

Why should we give it a try if their basic principles and roots of this anti-gay activists are wrong to begin with? Better to be safe then sorry.

If it was done by any other religion, be it Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism etc, there will still be opposition. AWARE is just not religiously biased. They serve ALL.

Not to be a prude, (just for the record, i am not part of an organised religion).

But the reason why people make such a big deal out of this whole thing is because bringing religion into it was a stupid move, and uncalled for; with potentially dangerous repercussions.

And to answer your question, theliverevolution, about why no one would think the same if it was another religion; people WOULD definitely not like having religious ideas inapplicable to theirs forced down their throats.
Furthermore, a minority of Christians tend to be the preachy convert-to-christianity-now-or-forever-be-damned type, and because of these few people, they have crafted a stereotype of themselves for Non-Christians looking in from the outside, or have been subject to their activities.

Not to say that there aren't preachy Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim pricks too, but the Christians have just been more...conspicuous.

Just my two cents,
Please don't sue.

I agree that the media blew it up. I think the newspapers have done a fantastic and classic job in achieving its agenda. I think it was a straight-forward tussle between conservatives and liberals, but the newspapers see it fit to bring in and play the "religion" card by constantly highlighting that some of the new exco belongs to the same church. I think that was quite immaterial. But it was a sure way to put the new exco in a negative light. Mark Anthony's quote in Shakespear's Julius Caesar comes to mind :
"Now let it work. Mischief, thou art afoot..."
He managed to rouse the mob to do his bidding by clever manipulation.
