Yes humbucker sound on a tele! wondering if anyone here who have this config? I am thinking of getting a squier tele and then install a duncan hotrail or other humbucker in single coil size)

Any feed backs or better suggestions? coz i love the twangz and the u2 les paul distort!)

Why not?

heres a common tele mod for player who need the tele sound, sticking with the single coil in both bridge and neck plus having another 1 more pickup config(both single coil in series to get a pseudo humbucker sound).

If you add another push pull pot, you can have another 1 more pickup config(bridge pickup our of phase with neck pickup in series or vice versa)

total, 5 different pickup configuration from tele(3 stock plus 2 extra). Much cheaper than changing pickups and having extra sound in it

nice suggestions guys. how much would this mod cost and at where? or easy to self solder and stuff?

hows this mod cost compared to the hotrail or whatever alternative :)

to get a fat paf-y sound with my tele, i lower the volume and tone control, crank the volume and increase the mids on my (tube) amp, with both pickups activated at parallel.

it works for me.

cost: check with whoever guitar tech is doing the wiring for the cost

where: Search for competent guitar tech using the search function in the forum here

easy to solder?: Its as easy as breathing in and out if knowing how and can be as hard as walking around being blindfolded if not knowing how

All the info for the mod(how to do it, what tools are needed etc) is in that google search.
If after spending some effort to understand what it does, how it can be done and wanting to do it, then do it.

If not, for the easy way out, buy hotrail, look for guitar tech(using the search function in the forum here), pay them to solder. Be ready to rock out in a short while.

If wanna more trouble and effort to get more sounds from tele, then go thru the google search link(on 4 way tele mod) and do it.

Isn't it just a total of 4 different pickup configurations? Unless I'm missing out on something here, Bridge, Neck, Bridge+Neck(Series), Bridge+Neck(Parallel).

perhaps its the 5 way switching? one more for series and out oh phase. but not too sure how it sound

its still 4 way switching, but the pickup config in series can be activated via a push pull pot(volume) for out of phase.

for the 4 way switching, 1,2 and 3 will still be the bridge, bridge+neck in parallel and neck. The 4 setting will be bridge+neck pickup in series. And from the push pull pot, pull it up to put the bridge+neck(in series) to out of phase. So total 5 sounds

Instead of buying to mod, get one which already have humbuckers?
some examples

Modding will set you back an additional $100 for the humbucker + another $30-50 for installation. And thats only for one pickup. Also theres no way of telling exactly how the sound will turn out and the end result may not actually be what you were looking for.

Good ideas pouring in! I wanted one with at least one single coil as i like the twang. But was thinking about having the hotrail because i do like the U2 sound! Mainly just for versatility!

subversion, how bout some ratings and comments on your pu? Im sure there is plenty of tele users who also yearn for that fat tone too.

hey dude i've got hot rails on my tele and it really gives a good thick tone . Get the pickups to be split optional where you are given the liberty to choose your hotrails to be either a single coil or humbucker depending on your choice all by a pull of the knob. I'm not much of a power guitarist but it works for me ...
