my set neck epiphone sg has really bad sustain in the upper frets. the note dies out really really fast into feedbackish sounds. in fact, my bolt neck ibanez sustains longer. this is especially through for the bridge pickup.
searching around, i think it could be due to the following reasons:
1)pickup height? (my sg bridge pu seems to be really high compared my ibanez, but the sd menus states 1/16" at the high e string and 2/32" for the bottom e". its a seymour duncan sh-6 distortion, big string pull?
2)strings? my strings are kinda old now, but not really rusty and stuff. also im using 0.9s, could the thinner strings be causing this?
3)in need of proper setup? change of nut and stuffs (?) etc etc.
any sg users having the same problem? i know that sgs arent gonna be able to sustain like their heavyweight cousins, but not that bad
