i love the smell of fast fret

hah, i'm addicted to the smell... XD
i'll smell it everytime i apply it to my strings..
like, put it near my nose and really smell it... :D
fast fret sniffing...

I meant the 'acidity' part.
How much Fastfret do you guys apply? I just slide over each string once, otherwise it'll be too darn oily.

Guys, is FastFret good for your fretboard? ;)

I've heard nothing good abt how FastFret treats the fretboard, since you will always get some on the fretboard.

I suggest getting the d'andrea string cleaner fluid (just 5 bucks!) recommend by Subversion, or the GHS string cleaning cloth.. both wipe dirt off like you never seen before. After restringing a fresh set of strings, I use the GHS and wipe hard, the wound strings actually look shinier than before, and its a marked difference.

The DR stringlife fluid is also excellent... slows down rusting a lot, and althought expensive for the bottle, it lasts long, if you are careful and don't spill.

I use DR strings for meself... they seem to stretch out the fastest, I usually lock my nut abt 20 mins after slapping a fresh set on, all ready to go for whammy abuse. They are also very resistant to rust... d'addarios and dean markley blue steels die in my hands too fast.

im using d'addarios .10-46. i dont know abt u guys but mine usually gets rusty after abt 3 days or so. I've tried "ESP" strings b4 too and those rust so fast! after a week, i had to change the strings already. that was my experience. now i stick to d'addario. they're good and they're cheap too! :D

I use Wyres uncoated .9-.42 strings not because they're extremely durable or anything, but for their looser feel. <-subjective. I use this string cleaner called stringlife! liquid polymer coating available at maestro's. Check it out at www.stringlife.com I don't know if their claims are true, but I feel that it works in keeping my strings clean and smooth.

Something i've observed that's kinda strange is that strings seem to rust/turn black faster on rosewood fingerboards than on maple fingerboards. Is this just me? cus i swear the strings on my hamer cx2 (maple fboard) seem to be shinier for longer than on my ibanez with (rosewood fboard). any thoughts?

It says on the tube itself that it doesn't stain the fretboard. But I don't know if it's detrimental to the FB though. Any thoughts, guys?

You have sweaty hands?

Phil, i think best to do some google-ing for this FastFret thing. I hate the smell and oily feel of FF, I don't see how it can be alright for the fretboard...
But if it is.. :) Cool.

I don't have sweaty palms but you know how we have different chemical make ups.... for some d'addarios last the longest, some like me, they die too fast...

One of FastFret's advertised capability is to prolong fingerboard life.

And is FastFret alcohol-based? I read that alcohol is the best thing to use to remove grime & grease off your fretboard and strings because it evaporates quickly. But note, use alcohol-based products only on the fretboard as it wears away the paint.
Well, oil-based products are at the other end of the spectrum as it causes built-up.

Or so I heard, hope it helps. I am too free.

Hmmm... well, I wouldn't place my bets on an advertisment if you get what I mean... Just concerned that FF might be detrimental to the guitar in ways you don't know and the damage only shows up a couple mths/years later. That would suck! :(

I doubt FF is alcohol.. it doesn't evaporate.

I have hear opinions thats alcohol, while it cleans nicely, it dried up the fretboard and renders it dull.

FF is oily to me... but i haven;t touch it for years, I can't really recall.

while we are on String topic, can you guys recommend a string brand for acoustic guitar? Well, budget is less than $20 a pack.
