springs on the back cavity of strats

If it makes it easier to understand

The FR trem pivots on a blade edge

the vintage trems pivot on the screws and metal plate area of the bridge where it mounts onto the body.

lightice, just fyi, i've been setting up guitars for the past "X" years.

so... I know what I know to make it work and how it works and you know what you know.

I don't doubt your experience, I'm just saying the way the vintage trem minus 4 screws = 2 pt american trem. It doesn't work the same as the FR.

Setting up guitars have nothing to do with this I think.
It still works as a trem, I'm just saying the mechanism behind it is not the same.

Anyway here is some reading on it.

lightice, its ok man.

ok my fingers need to type.

anything CAN be a pivot.

just that the vintage trem screws are acting as the pivot.

I'm just saying the way the vintage trem minus 4 screws = 2 pt american trem.

I TOTALLY AGREE! except that the vintage trem with 2 screws are a primitive workaround.

It doesn't work the same as the FR.

Of course not! FR is LOCKING and the keyword here is LOCKING. I was refering to the FR comparison in terms of the 2 pivot points....

so we clear here?
