1st up, the GE7 Observation!

Many said dat the GE7 makes noises or hums rite? well i only noticed it after i put the GE7 before my Jackhammer! i always put the GE7 after my Jackhammer to shape my tone/sound! and dat doesnt cause any "obvious" noise/hum! so i think i don hv to mod it! hehe! save $$$! (But i'll still pay attention to advise and reviews if any! Thanx)


Main Topic

I tried my fren's OD3 for a booster,
and some things i realised is dat, it "colours" the original tone abit! but i guess that dat "colour" would be and individuals preference! i tried it 3ways:

1) OD3 > JH1 > GE7
2) JH1 > OD3 > GE7 } JH1 = Marshall Jackhammer
3) JH1 > GE7 > OD3

When the OD3 was in use, i realised that it gave a very "obvious" noise/hum/hissing kinda sound! (i use a G15RCD 15watt home practice amp set to clean, and use a single 1spot to power up all my EFX + i use max gain on Overdrive on my JH1)

i felt dat that the OD3 was best set up at the 1st choice! and i realised dat it really "extended" the sustain! which i really like ALOT and want! but im not sure if i would want to get it as my booster since ive not tried others yet! i would only use a booster for solos only btw for alittle tone colouration and sustains!

I read dat some use the DS1 as a booster!

1) If ur using it, could u write a review or wat u tink abt it or advise pls!
2) Izit the same or better den what ive mentioned abt the OD3? And is ur DS1 modded?
3) Are these (DS1, SD1, OD3, BD2 and TS9) the only good EFX to act as boosts?
4) Could u recommend and advise on some pls?!
5) My bidget is arnd $100 to $130, if i do get any of them <(1st or 2nd hand) do they need to be modded?
5.1) If modded, wat will the modification do or add?
6) Im using Overdrive on my JH1, does tis mean i muz/can only use another OD pedal to act as a boost?

Pls do keep in mind dat i only want a booster to boost my leads/solos dat add more sustain and a little tone colouration (not tone sucking or dat will mud/mush up the sound/tone)

imho and personal view plus to what you need the booster for

Mxr micro amp or another ge-7 for the boost when soloing.

The couple of pedals you have listed are overdrive/distortion pedals. While it does work as booster for some. Techinically, its not meant as a booster. And with your JnH at max gain, adding another overdrive( at lower gain) to boost it, it will either add more hiss or alter the overall tone. The change in tone might be for or against you.

You have a LOT of queries and its best to meet up to discussion and clarify. To answer your answers here, its going to take an essay.

Save some dough, bring your GE7 to randolf for modding (quieter and the eq freqs are tweaked), then bomb him with questions.
