greetings soccer fans 8-) it'll be a few more months before the Singtel-EPL broadcast becomes effective. just wanna know how many of us here are going to make the switch- why/ why not?

will switch cause there's not much of a difference in price between the two and i need the soccer to get through my weekends

Im hooked up to a slingshot box that beams games frm the UK ( some sports frm States ). I'm sorted.

Can I ask, if I want to get MIO are there any costs for like setting up the box? I dunno.. I stay in landed property so are there like cabling anything like that?

Im switching for sure. LOL.

anws, here's a case of my friend.
he lives in landed property, had no cable, therefore had to do some wiring which costed him roughly $8k. i dunno why, maybe landed property do not have the same antenna as HDBs? and 3 months later, SINGTEL won the rights to broadcast EPL. the thing is, he subscribed STARHUB cable for EPL. LOL!

Woah..that's a very sad case. But I think he can still use that line should he want to switch to MIO.:confused:

I'm switching though, but more for the UCL and Serie A rather than EPL. :)

3 reasons why i wont do the switch but im just a kid. my voice is no justice in my family. 1)for me mio broadband is the most shittiest broadband created. 2)since i have MIO broadband why not watch stuff online. afterall we are paying for it. 3) mio tv soccer channel have good plans. still i think online is cheaper but lower quality. but its cheap! oh yea i failed maths so 4) STILL GOT KAKI'S HOUSES WHAT LET THEM PAY WE WATCH FOR FREE.

It sucked that SingTel won, even though the price difference is not much, i think having an additional set-top box is utter rubbish.

I learnt that I need pay for another phone line which i dont need, which is essential for Soccer channels. which adds up almost the same once you do the math for the cost of set top box for starhub and the what not. Furthermore, on areas where cables haven't set up e.g. Bedok Reservior, potential subscribers CANNOT enjoy Early Bird promotion that they're been pushing in order to sway people to Mio. Talk about catering to the demand, I believe SingTel's early bird promotion is an epic fail.

I really wished that we can really suppress that need to subscribe SingTel long enough to for them to fold due to bad response to Mio Tv and for once listen to our suggestions of porting their channel to Starhub's set top box rather than taking full advantage of our addiction.

WHEN THE DEMAND STOPS THE KILLING WOULD TO... but I don't think that will ever happen here.

Get the MIO-Home plan. Its great. You kinda get everything. If you feel you gonna waste money then might as well waste it on everything right?

I for one already have MIO before EPL was won over by Singtel. So just had to sub the channel which cost $25/month if im not mistaken.Well at least the package comes with Champions League and Europa League as well.Quite value for money if you were to ask.

Hope they'll telecast South Africa on MIO too.

damn, dont think i'll switch, my family watches the hongkong serial channel (55) more than anything else. and singtel doesnt offer that. and, singtel broadband is shit.

It sucks big time for me cause i was told by the singtel representatives that my area is not ready for MIO!!! Wanted to sign up during the EPL promotion period but could not due to this reason.

I was like Wat THE #$%^&*!

They said there might be a chance of it up and running but have to wait till sometime in july to know. My entire family of 7 is so pissed after knowing this. Most of us can't do without our weekend football fix.

haiz...

Singtel: why buy over the rights when you are not even ready to go all out and reach everyone?!

BTW, my area is just across the street from serangoon north. Philips Ave. I bet the people who live in serangoon has access to MIO.

when i recontracted singnet broadband, they threw in miotv for FREE. not mio home, which has various crap that i wont use, but miotv. i also got a macbook.

then they gave me football frenzy at a discount. a few months later, to reward me for signing up so early, they made me sign a 1 year contract, which made my football package FREE until the new season starts. so i will just cancel starhub sports in time for the new season. they also tried to sneak in a paid content package but i said forget it, i already got starhub.

NOW new law requires paytv to carry all exclusive content accross other telcos. so when this contract ends i will just cancel miotv (and the retarded extra phone line in my house) and view everything through starhub.

I WIN.

PAY TV ARE REQUIRED TO CROSS CARRY EXCLUSIVE CONTENT! NO MORE MULTIPLE SET-TOP BOXES!!

it's about time, with the cross carrying content, consumers will definitely pay much lesser since it's a joint bid and there will definitely be more consumers!

"This applies to any contract signed or renewed from March 12. It does not affect existing contracts."

what 'contract'? starhub cabletv where got contract? 'contract' is a dirty tactic that only singtel uses
