So you think squier and sx are lousy guitars?

subversion wrote: superior not in name but believably due to wood types/ electronics/ overall craftsmanship...

Yeah, I know, did a lot of research on the wood etc before buying the LP studio. It's as good as it gets. Craftsmanship... sucked till Malcolm got his hands on it and did up the fretwork.

muahahaha.

grammar police..
arrest this man he talks in hinglish(himbo english)
he buzzes like a fridge, he's like a detuned radio...

I think it's a guitar by guitar basis... A month back, i thought my squier se100 was going to the trash... But after getting a setup, a change of the neck pup... it's playing like a dream...

my friend also observed that it's built quite solid-ly considering that it's MIC squier.... Only problem with it is the default pups....

So i guess I'm pretty lucky.... First few MIC squiers... heh

the LP Studio is, in my books, a very good no-frills LP to own. many people dis this model due to its slightly thinner body, compared to the 'regular' LPs. time & again, people would glorify a brand name on grounds of superiority when quality issues really pertain to non-name related issues. through many years of brand-name exposure, the Gibson superiority can still obtain some finer points from ardent far-eastern copiers but it's not happening, of course... 8)

The SX are ooookay...lah..but the parts e.g. pick guard, necks, bodies wont readily fit other "licensed" fender parts where as squier parts tend to be more "compatible"

I love modding a cheap squier then bashing the hell outta of it in giggs...

"Ah, BUt THEN?"

Here's the thing. This question implies a sudden dawn of understanding, much like a coming-to-terms with kinda thing, and then asking about the unknown.

The word "ABADAN" as i like to put it, connotes a sense of stare-in-your-face obviousness, much like the word "DUH" connotes too.

CHEEM NESS is MY GAME!

I can only answer....

ABUTHEN?

On the other hand... I wonder... those of you who say your "cheap" guitar plays so well, sounds so good... have you tried a really good, well put together guitar that carries a bust-your-bank-price?

Well, definitely if you compare a squier against a bust-your-bank priced guitar. Definitely, the more ex guitar would definitely stand out. But not all pricey guitar are totally good.

Put it this way, a 600+ epiphone will never match a 2k++ gibson and the rule applies to squier and fenders. But in the price range that you pay, there is only so much you can ask for....

the costly guitars are indeed above the hierarchy because they are premium grade to start with, which isn't the case for the entry level players.

Now, we all know wood = an unrulely thing.

Take furniture, cut it up, put together by non-luthiers = TONAL BLISS. Look at Brian May.

Take the best woods, have a luthier put it together = you could have a plank.

But what's sure is this: On the average, the well made, generally more pricey guitars will out shine a "cheap" guitar.

The ratio is there.

A 2k gibson might not sound as good as that special Epi you hunted out of a batch of 500... but there will (should be lah hor? but its Gibson!) be a-plenty of great sounding 2k Gibsons abound.

That said - I put my trust in well-made guitars. To me, an epi LP isn't well made... in general. An Ibanez RG321/RG7321 isn't well made. And so on so forth.

As you can see, I'm using very very general terms, so ... don't take it to heart ya? :D

I was once in friend house and getting bored, so pick up his Epiphone SG and it was a big surprise. The old half broken Epi SG plays better than my Ibanez RG prestige and most of the Gibsons that I’ve played. I looked at the guitar again with something-is-not-right feeling. Yes, playability is so good that I couldn’t put down (but still cannot compare to JEMs :) Of course tone is not as good as Gibson or Prestige (no offence to Epi SG owner), my point is sometime budget guitars have great playability.

I started with top of the line RG Prestige and still an entry level player :(
People suggested me don’t start with expensive guitars especially with floating bridge etc. because I will find my guitar later which is true, I found my guitar later but I still like my first RG.

so i think at the end of the day, squiers and SX might not be the best guitars around... but there are good pieces amongst the bad QC ard...

So the best is to pick one up with good build and stuff then decide if there is a possibliltiy that it will sound better....

^ excatly, by the way pardon my stupidness whats TGP? i've been seeing it ard hte forums recently
