Just thinking :D.... been playing on my strat for a while now, Im beginning to miss how humbuckers sound.....;)...so I thought I would start looking into some of em...the reverend got away from me...sadly....Im probably looking at Les Pauls or PRS etc(not really looking at ibanez or jackson and the lot)...more for rock guitar ..... wondering what I can get for 2-3K....by and by, im fine with a killer guitar at 500$ as well:D....heard a lot abt the epi elite.....any suggestions??? Ive not been to a guitar shop in ages ... they dun stay open long enuff for me to get off work!!...ofcourse I gotta try em out sometime....

so any suggestions??

ps. how are nng guitars?anyone got any experience wid em? how much excess cost has gotta be born to get a guitar shipped?

Oh come on! GAS has hit ya again.

the3rdlogic is selling a NNG PRS style guit(Cust 22 specs) Its a pretty splendid deal id say.

So, jump on it now man. Its calling out to you. "sid, sid sid sid sid sid"

Wait, i cant remember, you're sid right? Or are you chris?

Pardon my poor memory.

If you want to whammy alot, you might want to try an ibanez instead.

yeah for 2k+ you can get a nice js1200 or js1000 and it's not 'more for rock'! it's more for gods...like joe satriani, which means it can play anything from jazz to blues to rock and even metal. Coil tap means you can have humbucker AND go back to 'single coils' when you want them. haha but if you really dont want ibanez then nevermind.

dude, go custom. Get the parts and stuff, all finished and cut, then get high quality hardware.

You're set to go.

Looking at how you've gone thru Ibanez, looking at your gear - you'd not want to return there.

haha jms...sid here man....yea gas is really burnin me up....

8finger: thought abt getting an ibanez...frankly I dun see much of a difference between a high end RG for 1000$ and a signature model for 2500$ when it comes to ibanez...as a matter of fact..ive found that price has nothing to do with the quality of the guitar regarding ibanez especially....they make some killer guitars for a lower price too...

Dan: ah bro...im typing this at 915 in office bro...sure i can get the custom parts..would love to...but whos gonna make the guitar!!!!!!!!!

Shredcow has a good point.

USACG is the way to go?

Maybe a HSH pickup config would suit you well.

Dude, Malcom should be able to fix the baby up for ya and set it up, it'll be a killer guit to your specs.

whoah for 2-3k u got lots of options.

For classic rock sounds its preety tough to beat sg's and les pauls.
2-3k can get u some decent gibson sg and edwards les paul.

What do u not like about the rgs? the clean tone? Or the neck profile?

Do try some parker guitars while you're at it. Very nice sweet clean tone.
Roll back the tone knob and u can get close to the les paul sound. Some models
also have piezo on board. It also comes with a thin smooth fast neck. Korean models are available at g77. I saw zakk selling an american model once on the net. Wonder whether its still available?

Have fun. Would love to be in your position though.

Well I liked RGs, i thought they were excellent metal guitars....fast fretboards.....good for the money u pay for them...but somehow there was this lifelessness about it...maybe its something to do with the guitar is built...not really sure....I'll probably get one to fulfill my metal needs at some point...lets see....

How much would a nice Les Paul cost? or a nice PRS? owners plz feel free to chime in....Im definitely not looking at 4k+ right now...just wanna know what my options are!!

Who sells edwards ?

edwards can find from davis and g77. prs sc 245 (like all other prs singlecuts) have much better playability than les pauls. and its at the lower region of 3k lol. so if you're willing to stretch your budget a bit..

If you want a really crunchy humbucker sound, then I say just go for the Gib LP. The sheer mass really brings out the growl (and kills your shoulder). For your budget, if you're lucky you might find a great 2nd hand Custom. Otherwise I think you could get a first hand standard.

Just be very picky when choosing and you'll get a great piece.

Sid, Malcolm can assemble the guitar. No worries about that definitely.

Just worry about getting the parts you like. ;)

Thereafter, it will all fall into place.

You're right about Ibanez sounding lifeless. The thin necks, AANJ neck joint and floyd rose trems on the RG series, together with a plain basswood body... well, do the math.

you can get a used Les Paul for $2.5K+/-, same goes for PRS guitars. if you can live without the Gibson brand name, Edwards is highly recommended.

Try an S-series!

I actually did try an S-series, was pretty ok.....the higer end models are much better...

I gotta try out the edwards guitars.....hmm maybe ill just take on a project and build the usacg........

hehe, its time for defintion!

What is crunch when come to tone and use simple english to describe where most can understand and agree on, on how crunch sounds like!

demystify tone time

hmm used gibsons or PRSes are hard to come by nowadays though... good first hand ones are also hard to come by in singapore...
