Smashing Pumpkins New Album...

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone here is hyped about the new pumpkins album set to be released early July...

So far billy corgan has kept very quiet about whether james iha and d'arcy are back in the band...

i'm really excited about it...grew up listening to pumpkins...

supposedly iha and darcy arent back... thought melissa should be but no news about that either..

im VERY excited bout the new album man! 07/07/07, watch the date!

and i doubt iha will b in the lineup. only billy corgan and jimmy is pretty much confirmed la. and i think melssa will continue with the bass duties

Iha and D'arcy and Melissa won't be in the new album...there's two unknowns that have joined Billy and Jimmy.

I'll try to search the info somewhere..but yeah,it won't be entirely SP if there's no Iha y'know...

Yeah, but he recorded Siamese Dream on his own with Chamberlain...

yeah,Machina was also mostly recorded by Billy...he's an ass la,always think he's so good..but actually isn't...he tries so hard to be multi-talented musician(like NIN)..but he just fails..coz he got good members and never actually respects their creativity..

James and Darcy were just eye candy for the band.

I really hope this album won't sound like ANY OTHER WHINEY Corgan fronted release.

Only Gish and Siamese Dream and a little bit of Melancholy had some originality. The other albums just sound like a rehash of something from Smashing Pumpkins.

Billy actually isn't good?

I think he's a pretty darn good musician. His whiny voice seriously put me off initially, but once I got over that, I realised that he's got pretty good ideas man.

I'm awaiting the new album as well =) Been waiting for a long time.

haha yea, you gotta get over billy's whiny voice, then its all good from there! iha's kinda a background guitarist, never really stood out to me. billy has better chops than him, i feel. watch their live.

Yeah.. I agree the contribution of iha and d'arcy aren't as much as billy and IMO chamerlain is as importan to the line up as corgan. i'm not the biggest fan of Adore and all those electronics beeping things. Hope it turrns out well.

quite sad that iha and darcy are not back in the band....SP will never be the same without them...

SP music WILL be the same with or without them but in terms of the "LOOKS" yes.... its never be the same with that 2 eye candy.

The key to the SP sound is still Billy and Jimmy.

haha yea agreed, SP sound is mainly billy and jimmy. darcy will always be the cool as ice rock chick bassist tho. haha

and yes, their new song, tarantula is pretty awesome. the guitars are back!!! it seems to be a cross between melon collie era and siamese dreams era and gish somewhere in there. but more towards siamese dreams, i feel. good stuff! thx god billy is not stuck in the zwan era! lol

i love the slightly raw grungy mix of the song. very much welcoming.

I hope they will bring back the yinyang style loud/soft that is so beatifully done on Gish and Siamese Dream.

The thing that I really dislike about the later albums was that it was one dimensional... chuggachugga riffs with billy screaming his throat off and many songs sounded so similar and then downtuned the guitars and repeat the same thing.

their latest lineup is kinda revealed 2 days ago at their first reunion show together since they broke up. say hello to Jeff Schroeder (taking over iha) and Ginger Reyes (the new darcy).

no worries tho, as without iha and darcy, their new single is still sounding 100% pumpkins. billy and jimmy has been running the show throughout anyway.

I still think James Iha is essential to Smashing Pumpkins..I don't know why..I just do..it just feels different not to have him around..I know he doesn't do alot..but...it's JAMES IHA!!!

but yeah,this song...really justifies a buy...Billy actually sounds good..

edit: I guess,I just came when I heard that crazy ass solo!! kinda like one of the live performances of Cherub Rock. but y'know..I still think Billy is an ass...haha
