SLOClone, Soldano SLO100 Clone

I would like to learn how to build, but i still need a speaker cabinet.. and attenuator i guess.

And how about the head cabinet also? How much do the components incl valves cost?

Ic...
What would be a good amp build? There is still lots of things to consider, like getting a good speaker + cabinet.. And also the loudness of a tube amp in my house..

I think it would be good if i could build myself a <20W amp. I don't know where to start though.

Hi there, this is interesting, any idea how much is the total setup might take? Include the valve and parts from ceriatone as well? Hahha

i suppose it would cost about 1.2k or more depending on the type of transformers you order

from ceriatone site... it's seem that they only stock those old "marshall head cover" ..

where can we those.. like the snake head as show in hydesg link.

it's totally cool.

qucik i am 50% dropping the idea of marshall

yes i am going to build everything myself

will be using a rack chassis instead

i just ordered the boards

interesting. so for your case you'll need to get a rack chasis as well eh. Sorry to say but i think i can't really afford to put 1.2k into a project such as this. Kinda scared of the eletrical voltage and all unless im a really qualified person to do it, hahah! By the way the ceriatone does a good soldering job, saw the soldering ends on their point to point soldering and it's all cleanly rounded...

Hi guyz
I got all the necessary carpentry equipt.(compressor, airgun nailer,router,etc....)to custom made your speaker cabinet.

I just ordered a round of boards. I'm Building four of these and the cost of parts alone is upwards of USD$1200+ . IMHO you should not substitute the transformers. The Transformers are a lot of the tone! I have a Soldano HR 50 and the circuit is almost Identical to the SLO 60 but the transformers are MM's. Big Difference!

rely...tell us more!

Btw a slo clone is not for first timers ...not to sound like an ass but just a word of caution.
Especially with high gain amps where all that stacked tubes pumpin... noise and hum and what not....soooo... *deep breath* gasp ...have fun.

Transformers are a lot of the tone
Deyoung ...maybebaby.

got pictures of your works? I have a high efficiency hifi speaker project that I can get the plywood supplier to cut to size and I do lego assembly but time is a constraint or an excuse these days.... plus I don't really look forward to cut speaker openings(the fricken saw dust!) even though I have a router at home.

For the benefit of forum members that are embarking on projects like that, please show off your work a bit!

oh and ditto goose's comments on the SLO for first timers. It can be a handful.

Read up and keep the wiring harness neat. Plan the component layouts carefully and take note of the orientation of the transformers. Twist the heater supplies tight and tout. Check check and recheck.

Sooner or later I would probably get less interested in building guitar effects (...not 'till I'm done with an A/DA Flanger and Dimension-C) and building guitar tube amp is the sure route that I'll be going into.

Anyway, for those who want to start guitar tube-amp building as a hobby, below is a good site that I'd recommend.
