SL SALE 310508: Guitar talk

greetings friends, it wouldn't be quite right if we don't talk gear prior to the SALE day; it's not done for enticement exclusively, but as a form of assistance to those who are have headaches pertaining to selections. please note that this thread is strictly temporary & would be closed on the sale day. some ground rules:

*there should be no list price query to be done here. this discussion is not a price directory & it should not be turned into one. the onus is on you to check out the list price. however, we should be quoting price range to help members maximize their budget.

*do not ask if Guitar A is better than Guitar B, ask if it meets your needs more than anything else.

*we definitely do not know if there are gonna be a specific model on the sale day by the time you make your entrance into the venue or what's in store on the sale day. i always advise buyers to do some shopping a few days prior to the sale event & have Plan B, C & D handy if your Plan A fails you

to start off, Epiphone fans, these LPs are recommended in terms of good playability & tone:

Sorry.. Posted wrong here..
Well for those aiming for SGs, I can recommend the Epiphone G400 Faded edition..
Around $400 during the sale..

Haven't tried their prophecy models yet, but this is their most promising SG from the rest of the bulk!

Some workhorses to try! But these models usually have to undergo a pickup change before they sound satisfying..

And an Epiphone I tried recently blew me away at Swee Lee; the cleans were great, and the overdriven sounds is one of the best I've heard.
I think it is the Wildkat. I guess it's the P90s that accounted for the superb overdriven tone.. And the Bigsby is a plus!

also on the Ibanez front:

Iceman: ICT700- i feel this guitar, despite its love/ hate reverse headstock, is a superb dual-humbucking, non-whammy unit currently in the market. the genuine DiMarzios on board just add goodness to tone

SA260- no nonsense HSS unit by the manufacturer, one of the better-sounding default pickups too...

AF75- the Artcore series displays one of the best craftsmanship in the semi/ hollow category in the market today & it doesn't cost you a bomb...

there have been no Highway 1 models for quite some time already, i'm anticipating these myself...

other guitars: the Cort Katana is one overlooked guitar which should be on your list if you are looking for some wonderful playability & tone.

thanks loads.

*looks into pocket and look back @ sub*

the Epiphone version please. Want to verify if they are MIC models?

Well.. Technically yes and yes? I mean, they will shift what they have from the warehouse into the showroom..
At times, they will randomly shift more stuff into the warehouse..
I doubt you can ask for something which isn't in the room.. If it's there, it's there.. If it's not, too bad?
