Hi guys, i tried the Skreddy through Malcom's Gries amp with Tyler guitar. The tone is magnificient. However with my JTM45 & AC 30, its no where near what i heard. Does the Screwdriver work better with clean amps?

Seems that you like it on the 6L6 amps more than the el84...

Maybe the Screwdriver was designed toward the 6l6 ones as Malcolm probbaly picked them for the way they sounded with his favourite 6l6 amps.

fuzz type pedals are picky indeed .... :?
go easy on the amp gain and tweak to taste ya.

oh boi.. its a pain jammin through amps that are un-fuzz-ly :(

I find the Screwdriver works "better" thru a clean clean amp.

Using it to push something else, or stack into something, i find its nicer with the pre gain down.

I don't find it choosy with amps. You just have to tweak it to suit the amp that you are using. I think the skreddy's preset on the brilliance and pre gain is neutral enough. I tried to adjust those yesterday but I keep coming back to the orig setting. i'm boosting it with an xotic rc booster but it already sounds great even without it.

Dude, try messing with the pre-gain trimpot on the Screw Driver. I've tried the SD on various amps with excellent results. I played my SD thru the UK setting on my previous Reverend Kingsnake - which's pretty close to the Vox/Marshall tone, with very good results too.

I didn't intentionally match my SD to my Gries 35. They just worked well with each other.

Maybe you should buy a Tyler Classic Strat to "help" your tone :P

Hi Malcom, indeed, no cure at all man....gear stack gear = no $$.
Anyway i will try the trim pot....i really love the SK thru your Gries and Tyler guitar...

The thing about these trim pots on the screwdriver and other boutique stuff is to match the pedal to your amp and to your taste. Play around with them and you will be surprised! The brilliance knob on the screwdriver should be in front i feel, and the sharpness at the side. Sharpness to me is set and forget. Brilliance needs to be tweaked when played with different amps and venues. Aiya. All the knobs in front best. Heh. But that will make it bigger..

What I am surprised with the screwdriver is how well it stacks with other pedals. I'm driving it with 2 other overdrive pedals, and I'm getting a very very nice od/dist sound, perfect for hard rock and heavy metal. I never believed in using od/distortion pedals alone, except to drive a tube amp. Stack your od pedals, each on low to moderate gain, radolf used to say. And how right he is.

ooo, welcome to the fold SanXP! :D

Friggin awesome dirt pedal huh? Tee Hee Hee~

Skreddy does make some mojo-fied pedals!

Ya man. I never expected a fuzz pedal to sound like that, or that i'll ever use one. When boosted it's a dist pedal, alone it's an od and fuzz. The screwdriver is exactly what skreddy sells it as, fuzz/od/dist. Eh dan, what's a boosty? Sounds interesting. :D
