Mine is more of a jam studio than a recording one. Not quite enough mics and mixer channels. :p

Disclaimer: The scale of some of the stuff in the photos looks odd because I was using an ultra-wide angle lens.

Luke, where did you get your desk from (if I can even call it a "desk")? Been trying to look for something like that but can't find any. Is it customised?

hi everyone :)

thoa, i bought the "desk" used from a kind gentleman here. it's a quiklok stand...but i can't remember the exact model number...it is a semi-customizable one where you can buy extra joints, parts (for ex: for the 2 speakers you see, or the top centre rack holding the monitor).

digihub and iansoh, it's the earliest model i believe...i bought it from during a work trip to san francisco i think in '98...still going strong after all these years :)

bongman, yea, i noticed yours was an EX7 after posting :) and you even added a 5R!! cool! for me, i was shopping for a used master keyboard last year and the EX5 came up...i was curious about its multiple synthesis engines (which the later models either dropped or turned into options) and found one very reasonably priced at ishibashi. ex5tech was definitely a contributing factor to my decision! :)

u guys have some amazing studios. im just starting out on home recording. im planning to get a EMU 0404 USB and currently im only working with a guitar and a mic. how do u ensure proper sound proofing? does the curtains have to be really very thick? and do u all keep ur room permanently ar conditioned? cos my room faces main road which makes it noisy and dusty.

Where did you get the extra parts from then? From the same person you purchased it from? How much did it cost you?

If you look closely at my photos, i'm actually using an Emu 0404 USB for my recording via a mixer. :) Short of hiring professionals i think it's hard to say if you can really do "proper" sound proofing but i guess every little bit helps. I'm using 2 layers of curtains, 1 is a thick PVC-like blackout curtain, the other is a thick velvet. I've also got them setup to cover the doors. Makes quite a lot of difference (cuts out a lot of mid to high frequency sounds).

very odd question but does such thick curtains make the room very hot or issit a good insulator lol. and how much issit to make such double layer curtains?

Should be a good insulator i suppose. So if the room is hot, it'll stay hot, if it's cool it'll stay cool. Cost wise i'm not very sure cos my dad is in the curtain biz so mine were basically free. :p

Lucky for you Denosha!! Mine has no sound-proofing whatsoever so I sometimes bring fruits to my neighbours. So glad they are understanding people :)

keep them coming man.

woah, fibredrive's studio can make us softies steam!

 haha thanks for the kind words man. still learning.

still need some form of sound absorption. the flutter echo? is quite distinct. curtains is the best option it seems...hmm...

wah haha so can look for u if i need curtains? hahaha

That would be abit hard though, cos my dad only does contract jobs and doesn't sell direct or do installations for individuals. I don't think he will tailor just a few meters of curtains (except for the home obviously). Sorry dude.
