Sg Band of Drummers

anyone in for a challenge? 8)

lets bring a pair of drumsticks and a practice pad into the swimming pool and practice our double strokes under water! 8O

drummer-buah u asked for it. Allow an engineering student to explain:

Playing with the sticks underwater would allow the higher viscosity of the fluid medium to produce a larger reaction force, or resistance. Thus a larger amount of effort would be required to move the sticks underwater to achieve the same amount of displacement in stick height. It would also mean that the acceleration of the stick is drastically reduced and hence the speed at which the sticks can be moved is much slower. 8O

In short, its harder to do double strokes (or any strokes) underwater.

Next lesson: an in-depth review of the intermolecular forces between water molecules that causes a greater fluid viscosity resulting in reduced stick mobility. (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA~!@~!@~@ )

Slapshock, In drumming, there is no right or wrong.. however there are certian guidelines that you have to follow, like not playing with your arms and stuff like that..

The dave weckl snap tech, is very good. gives clean concise tone to your playing, very versatile too!

The standard wrist down tech, has alot of power, makes it flexible for you to move around your set.

For as long as your wrist does not hurt when you play.. your doing it right. but if your arms get tired, press on! dont stop, if your arms hurt, stop! coz you want to be playing for many many years..

Trust me... you do not want to get an engineering person drunk and he starts talking physics.

Calling Sg Drummers!!

Anyone ready for a round 2 of meet ups? This time lets set an agenda for things to discuss and accomplish aye?

1) Rudiments!! can i suggest we gather round a practice pad and start to critic the rudiments of those who want to get guidance (like me!!).

2)
3)
4)

Suggestions?

hey guys, hows ur groove? can u play to a metronome? maybe u guys might want to work on this if its not up to scratch. i know its cool to have ur rudiments down and all but in a band situation it normally calls for you to have good time and a good feel, not if u know all 24 rudiments. i dun mean their not important they are very but rudiments are the next step i feel after u get groove and time down.
maybe u guys cld bring in songs by ur fav drummers teach each other the correct feel and tech needed to play that kind of music. it's all abt the feel and making the other musicians feel gd abt playing with u. maybe u guys cld share how u think when ur going abt approaching a song or how u go abt locking in with a bassist

hi blurred, did u come for the last drummer gathering? may i know ur name again? cos i remember someone who speaks like u. :D

can we meet this sunday again? everyone ok? i really want to learn some rudiments like those paradiddles!! i just can't get like pulse_ironica!!! need some practise tips!

blurred
chill la bro we just wanna chill and slowly work thing out ...........
thats i think its too early for now cause i think we need a pro view on that
but what u said true as well

no lah i'm chilled, its just that before i did alot of rudiments and stuff i mean i did concentrate on time as well but i stopped practicing and playing for like maybe a yr and my time's not too stable now. i'm doing a performance course in drums right now and it really doesn't matter how much chops i have but how much groove. i'm just having a tough time because of this and maybe u guys cld learn from my mistakes. okie i shall shuddup and tat som bong now.

well... blurred i can see where you're coming from dude. I think i went around doing things the wrong way round... eager to play songs and groove to them without picking up the basics of sticking.

but yes!! We WILL work on groove as well!

btw... u at downunder right?
