hmm interesting subject...

is dimarzio generally more popular than seymour duncan?

i've got the impression seymour duncan only produce vintage pups where as dimarzio produce modern and vintage pups... is it right?

Dim more popular than SD? I see it the other way round, down here in SOFT... ;)

As for your impression, well... i've met ppl who say the same thing. And I've met ppl who say exactly the opposite things. Its hard to pigeon hole them... I would just go with my ears ... i like what i'm getting from Dimarzio and so yeah, thats it...

That's a generalisation of how Dimarzio and SD compare to each other. (referring to their mainstream models, excluding custom made and Antiquities etc.)

I'm starting to feel though, that SD pups sound more organic rather than vintage, and Dimarzio while sounding more modern, sometimes also sound that they have more body than if you played with vintage stock pups.

Specific-wise though, I think you do have a healthy mix of everything for both brands.

well dimarzio is more suited to those players u see like vai, JS, malmsteen, EJ etc. but i believe dimarzio has a wider range, but as SD is rather suited for strats, LP, teles but i think dimarzio is suited for the next generation guitars, IBANEZ!!!

haha. well ya can always have the best of both worlds. Like me. haha. SD 59 in neck and a dimarzio Fred in bridge. in my les paul. IMO, SD is defo more popular. and associated with the vintage and old school and dimarzio is seen as the 'modern' pups. But really it depends on what guitar u use and what type of music u play. Both brands offer a wide range of pups that cater to diff needs. But always always. do ur homework with what pup suits u best. :D
