if you want full size humbucker, maybe you only need to change the pickguard only. Check your guitar body cavity. Most probably it will be H-S-H or swimming pool cavity.

depends on the sound you want. Tho, single coil sized humbuckers will never sound the same as its full sized counterpart, and vice versa. :)

*off topic
keep in mind tho, despite its name, most people mistake the screaming demon to be a 'hot' output pickup, which isnt the case.

or mayb i should get dimarzio pups? i heard they are pretty good. but there seems to be veri little available at swee lee...

it all comes down to what kind of sound you want. i cant really tell you which one is better.

if you want heavy, distorted sounds, maybe get a high output pickup, something like X2N?

is it good 4 distorted sounds :?:

this George Lynch endorsed pickups is definitely good for high gain/ drive settings, despite being medium output. i'm using it to propel black metal tones & it pulls through with ease. please do not hope for a thumping bottom end, the Screamin' Demon was conceived to have excessive lower midrange. review soon 8)

wat is emg :?: :? lol :D b4 we even get to emgs ...erm can they b found in s'pore and how much is it?

EMGs are active pickups (run on batteries), unlike the Seymour Duncan models mentioned in prior posts, which are passive.

ok .... dun realli like the idea of batteries in pups. lol

i heard that good guitars can be finger tabbed and the sound comes out easily while the not so good ones do not. is this true? if it is , will changing the pups do make it easier to finger tab? thx 4 all the help :D

Emgs are quite ex.. last i check which was early this yr i think.. a single emg active pup an emg81 in this case cost ard 150 .. and a zakk wylde set consisting of and emg 81 n 85 was just bellow 300.. the limited edition silver emgs.. 2 emg81s are over 300

anyhoots the batt drain is very little if u are turned of by e idea of the batts.. u change batts (9v) every 3-6 mths depending on usage. The batt turns on everytime u plug a cable into the guitar jack.. n the batts arent In the pup theyre connected To it. The diff in sound is very clear even to a beginer like me n the 81 is clearly built for distortion.. the cleans abit.. blurry..

Im swapping my emgs for a passive pair ..just bought an x2n yest.. cos i feel the emgs sound.. well theres a saying tt if u fit an emg on any guitar.. it will sound like. an emg. without carrying any of the guitars own tone. Of course tts not confirmed tho to my relatively untrained ear.. my frens n my guitars sound very very alike edit: [with emgs not without]

BUT im not saying the 81s crunch sucks! i havent installed the x2n yet.. but i loved every moment i had the 81 in my axe. Emgs have this quick connect system with allows u to change n swap pups ( only emgs) by just unscrewing the mounting rings n un hookng the wires. no need for soldering. one day i hope all pups will be like tt allowing for easy pup changes regardless of brand..

bah wont ever happen. Competetiveness n what nots

hm.... still dun wanna go for the active pair...

btw where did you buy the x2n and how much izzit? i went to dimarzio's webby and used the pickup picker.
no.1 was x2n , followed by super distortion and lastly tonezone.
i was thinking of geting x2n for my bridge and super distortion or a dimarzio breed for the neck. is this a gd idea :?:

i'll give u a Big DEPENDS to ur qn.

haha well. You see. Gd sound comes from many things. Gd guitar. gd pups gd amp gd fx m,aybe.. n of course gd player. Im not sure about ur sx. Cos sometimes u can havea great guitar with lousy pickups sounding the same as a lousy guitar with great pickups. but none reaching the standard of a great guitar with great pups.

Not saying ur guitar sucks lah hahah i dont know =) but sometimes its how the pups compliment ur guitar tt gets a great sound. f they over shadow or undershadow e guitars natural tone.. i might not sound right.. n also abit wasted ur not harnessing the best sound ur axe can have

For e x2n.. u need a neck to match e high output of the x2n.. or the x2n might overshadow the neck pup if u siwtch both of them on togehter.. or u may notice a large diff in volume when switching pups. I think this can also be solved by just adjusting the height of the pups from the strings..like i think shredcow has done before..it would be best to try to match pups with similar resistivy.. all e stats are on the dimarzo site maybe he can shed some light on this.. i fear i sound unclear.

Suggestios u may not agree with
save up for another guitar? with 2 hums already installed.. then can see what u like from there since ur curent guit its a strat copy
