hey funkifized,
thanks for the great feedback, am sure we could use an extra pair of helping hands. as you can tell by now, we're kind of just struggling to keep afloat meanwhile.
just to keep you aware, in the forum where SDC originated from:
http://forums.delphiforums.com/singdrumcircle
we do post up towgay of what transpired, in fact we've even done up MIDIs of sample grooves (e.g. shuffles and latin grooves) before after xchanges. also, i've been faithfully trying to keep videos of experienced drummers since we restarted xchanges.
some of the things we have been doing include:
1. having a drum xchange every month
2. featuring one to three experienced drummers (semi-professional, active in club/pub gigs, pros, teachers etc)
3. have a certain format - jam, drummer intro, q&a session, buy/sell/trade, jam
we have to keep improving, so feedback like this is important. meanwhile, i was not able to come yesterday, made plans to even pass one of the guys my digicams so u guys cld document on video some of the stuff that transpired for the rest here. we have to get more organized - and this is one of the areas, meaning - one or two of the other members cld standby to be 2nd or 3rd call video-documenter. also, like you mentioned, it'd be great if we have a 1st, 2nd call MIDI/towgay documenter for grooves/licks shown during the xchange.
in fact, ahpek has been writing all that towgay in the above-mentioned forum, so check it out for some of the history-of-drum-xchange-towgay-transpired (not complete though - he shagg la haha!!!)
in the longer term, it would be so wonderful if we could have our own website, so we can store towgays, videos of local drummers, MIDIs and MP3 of local drummers playing, hopefully that will come.
we've also initiated discussion to get SDC registered as a society so we can do things more properly, and also collect registration fees to do some of the things that we want to do (venue rental, educational materials, website with good amount of storage space)
keep the faith and keep drumming!!!
warm regards,
alfe
