the only 006 avaliable at g77 is the lower end bolt-on extreme series.

realised on specs its basswood or realised when you plug in the guitar and you HEAR basswood tone?

a lot of difference here you know....

plug the guitar in with your favourite pedal and then form opinions of it rahter than buying based on SPECS.

Well on specs, because i can't like rip off the pickups and swap it to seymours then try it on my oh so lousy crate 15W amp. (this is to compare with my current guitar sound)

Also because people tend to bash basswood a lot imo and i'd like the thick mid-rich mahogany

Mahogany has a richer sound than basswood? yeap, to my ears, correct. but rich in what sense?

Mahogany is also muddy in the bass to my ears, while basswood is tight and more focused.

Pros and cons Santa, some like poplar and think its the next best thing, some insist on thousands-of-years-old wood.

oh man... people like Joe Satriani and John Petrucci must be out of their minds to use basswood

the question lies in here is that can you hear the difference as your comment is based on spec?

i am getting flamed

haha, anyway, im set on a fender strat... but to answer ciel...

well i havent tried them side to side through the same amp. most of the tone comes from there too. but, i feel that the tone of my friends lp is much richer than the tone of a schecter i tried at g77.

i can hear the difference

don't flame me :D

erm because you are talking about a LP and a schecter?!

even you take a basswood lp and a basswood schecter it will still sound different?

Well a ceratin wood type is not bad or gd in my opinion as long as its meant 2 make a guitar... A diff guitarist will be appealed 2 diff wood tone.... But if its like a lower grade and quality den it will make a diff...

Japanese factories like Ibanez seem to get a tan colored, more uniform Basswood while other Asian factories get a more flawed yellowish basswood. And there seems to be a big difference in tone. A clearer, darker Basswood should produce more sound, while the yellowish lower grade seems to have more of the undesirable tonal qualities of Poplar. A hardtail emphasizes the reduced dynamics of the outer frequencies.
