Rusty strings

I soon learnt that my money was better spent elsewhere, namely Ernie Balls for electrics

Actually I like my D'addarios, but after your post, I feel like giving them Ernie Balls a shot again.

Id say the best value for money strings out there are DR strings and CurtMangans.

for DRs get the highvoltage 10s if you want long lastings.
same time try the curtmangan steels too.

thats just my opinion

^ haha yup. curt mangan strings are durable, lasting. Lasted pretty long for me with wiping after each session of playing! cheap too :D

I don't know but I find that for Curt Mangans, the quality from pack to pack differs. I remember getting a pack with slight rust, and I just used it anyway as I cannot be bothered to bring it back for exchange or whatever.

hmm i find zakk wylde Boomer strings good..

Long lasting and durable..

Im using it now.. Haha, Cost around $11 bucks at Yamaha PS.

Hmm.

haha, maybe we should start a thread regarding whether anyone here uses signature strings exclusively.

-Phil- ah well, I've gone past my phase where I'm still actively searching for that 'holy grail' of string brands... and I've experimented with:

DRs - wee bit too expensive.
GHS - their super steels are frickin bright but fret-eating.
D'addarios - ok for the first 2 hours and then *kaput*.
Gibson strings - very nice tone but can't last longer than 1 month, also quite exensive.
Darco - long-lasting but tone not to my taste.

So far, Ernie Balls have cut it for me.. and the QC is pretty consistant.

But then again, my style requires loads of bending, running up and down the fretboard as well as serious string bashing when it comes to rhythm 8)

I just use DR strings, and change when the tone no longer appeals to me, usually after 3 - 4 weeks with about 3 hours of play a day.

DR Titefits.

Only broken onces on my guitar.

Point to note - don't horde strings... I had like 12 packs of strings, after like 9 mths, I realised the packs had some rust on them already... kept them in a drawer in my room that had air conditioning at night.

are there any strings that seriously don't rust?
i've tried the daddario EXPs before and ive been playing them
for almost 4 months and still no rust...but EXPs not available
for electrics...anyone knows anti-rust electric strings?

cleartone :D

oh but i heard they dun have electric guitar strings in singapore.. maybe i was wrong.. haha.. didnt really search 4 them though..

Cleartones are in singapore! Its solded by Standard Value at woodlands. $25 per pack.... :P i'm considering to buy anot also.
