Running shoes

Friends which running shoe brand (in general) do you prefer? if you have other, less well known brand names to recommend, do share here. IMO some of the NIKEs/ REEBOKs/ etc out there are quite overhyped; the ones i own saw the sole coming off over time...

Didn't I read somewhere that a study was done and they really could not find any appreciable difference in performance between real expensive brands and lower-end ones, as long as there was reasonable foot support?

being a typical poor undergrad, Brooks bought with army credits works for me. i play basketball and do my running in them. can be a bit heavier than the high-end running shoes out there, but this pair lasts very long!

currently still wearing the pair of Brooks since i ORD 3 years ago, and i still have another brand new pair waiting! though keeping shoes is not good. maybe i should wear the other pair and alternate.

Adidas AdiZero for me! Super light on the feet, i can barely feel the weight. But its quite hard to play soccer in though........kicking power ain't good.

Yea I'm surprised that Mizuno is not on the list too. I'm currently using the Mizuno Wave Precision 8. My previous pair was the Wave Rider 9.

I'm searching the market for a new pair since my Precision 8's mileage is almost reaching 900km. I would probably get another Precision 8 since I love it's low ride height and it's high cushioning which is very important for a people who have high-arched feet.

there's no Fila/ Kappa/ Erke/ etc either... if it's good, it's bound to be mentioned, hence Mizuno

i'm kinda expecting the Asics to get positive appraisals here... i own a pair, served me well for more than 8yrs, the only pair whose sole did not come off but it's costly...

the other that i miss would be my Nike Windrunner- a simple, comfy pair, no frills, all performance.

Mizuno, but only the higher end models, they shaved 2 minutes off my 2.4km run timing. Mizuno wave creation 8.

loads of people say that nikes arent worth it but i guess it differs.
im not much of a runner, but i have owned a pair of nike pegasus and a current pair which im not too sure about. (all it says is nike running)

my dad runs 3 times a week, average 7km.
he has been wearing the low end new balances but recently upgraded to asics.

he says he prefers his Nbs.

How much mileage has the shoe collected over the past 8 years? It's advisable to change shoes after they've been through 400-500km because through the miles, the cushioning wears off.

I've never tried any models by Asics yet. Mostly because their prices are way way above my budget.

Where do you guys buy your running shoes? I recently chanced upon this awesome store on the second floor of Peninsula Plaza. It's called Feder Sports and they stock a whole load of running shoes from various brands such as Saucony, NB, Mizuno, Asics etc. i just went there today to get my new pair of Mizuno Wave Precision 9.

haha asics for the win. Their older models are more lasting...but their newer models eg Kinsei. arent that lasting, although the gel thats in the shoe is superb. I guess those "light" shoes that u guys are wearing are racers,which doesnt provide much cushioning and might actually damage ur foot.
