NO ROCK ON SINGAPORE FOR 2006?
Hi Everyone who are anxiously waiting for some news on ROS2.
This year ROS2 will be replaced with a bi-annual band festival, so it is like ROS and the FESTIVAL will take to the stage one after the other.
The importance of this festival is what local bands and musicians have always been looking for, that is to put them on the pedestal for the world to listen up. Much effort have been poured into the scene by various groups and people, and to name a few...Mr Patrick Chng, Mr Sujin Thomas, Aging Youth, SOFT.Com.sg, Double Yellow Line, not forgetting our controversial Mr Bitterliberty and myself... to carry this burden of lifting the music scene to a level we can all be truly proud of.
A collaborative effort between myself and the National Arts Council, we have set ourselves a 3 years target to "Industrialized" Singapore bands so to speak. There will be hitches and boo boos along the way and in anticipation we seek your kind understanding. We welcome all your contribution of time, ideas and lobang, for without whcih we can hardly be complete.
Coming to the event proper, the key feature of it is not the big show and the big bands, but the Public Forum. NAC and myself will be inviting industry players from the region to have a first hand experience of our local music scene, and then look at individual bands and consider ways to expand our market penetration. On this, we seek your 100% participation if you sincerely hope that the music scene hear should flourished. We like you to participate and contribute your true feelings and thoughts about the music scene and what you would like to see happening.
It will be a 3 days and 3 nights event covering workshops, clinics, competitions, games, food & drinks and plenty of music.
Start getting excited now.... go to your schools, your army camps, your working places and start preparing people for the event.
Lastly, I want to mention about the small team of people who have spent many evenings into midnights to help me put together a programme that the NAC found worthy of supporting. There will be much more work henceforth and we are looking for people once again to be part of this event that will make history to Singapore's music scene.
Yours sincerely
Anthony aka HRS
