Apologies because I have not been reading the forums lately due to a backbreaking schedule with the band and planning shows. I would like to personally thank all the SOFTies, especially .
James Da Godfather, who came to our launch and enjoyed the show! It was a pleasure!
While the forum is open for opinions, let us all respect the author of the post by sticking to his/her intended topic. RONIN is definitely keen in aiding RGS in the concert in the hopes of introducing more people into the fray of local music, as a collective, since the band has also offered to forward any interested bands who are in contact with them to the organizing committee to share the stage together in a grand concert for everyone's tastes and enjoyment. Such has always been the intention of the band to begin with. RONIN is
-not- interested in being the headlining band of the event because the members of the band trully feel that the
entire lineup should be treated on an equal basis for the benefit of the watching crowd. RONIN will definitely be getting as much exposure for the show as possible through their contacts with the media in the hopes that such great upcoming bands such as West Grand Boulevard will further heighten the interest towards local music, regardless of genre. No one band can carry the scene, only a strong collective.
The band will refrain from making commentaries regarding any such comments that Lars_ulrich has made. We fully respect his opinions because they are his, and he is entitled to them. But arguments and disagreements will only make the local scene seem self-destructive to the neutral onlooker. Thank you to Visa for clearing up the VS issue. Thanks to the many who have spoken on behalf of their belief and faith in RONIN.
It is a free world, even in the monitored democracy of our society, and everyone should exercise their opinions. But in the end, we are all here for the same purpose of bringing local music to a wider more appreciative audience and to push local music from being a niche market into something visible for the nation to appreciate; be it underground or mainstream. Even if you're a metalhead, a punk, a rock rebel, a pop diva or a dancing queen, we are already in the minority as compared to the workings of Stephanie Sun. So let's not bicker and fight over opinions and focus on the big picture that we
all want. and help these truly aspiring organizers of
RGS plan a great gig for their school that will be a testiment to for ALL the bands participating and ALL the audience members who watch;
That local music so f*cking rocks
Peace to all. Local music is here to stay.
Yours,
Melvin Tang
