Reworked Hymn "Amazing Grace"

Feel free to use this arrangement :)
Hi Nate, would you be uploading the guitar track and your vocals somewhere? Like ccMixter.org (works are under a Creative Commons license)? I'd love to do a remix with your version. Just a suggestion. Cheers. Have listened to this track several times over lunch. Reminded me of the band LifeHouse. Nice.

Hi bro, I dont have an account there. I'll try see what I can do :D

I rather watch amazing race!

hi im here to comment, short and simple heres my comments = Diction-Singaporean, Voice quality- Duane (the singapore idol guy can sing better eventho ken lim rated him 0/10), u gotta learn from other good singers, good try but doesnt work for me, take it positively or go away with your egos, this goes to those young chaps on soft.com who cant hear critiques thank you.

Good job dood! Yeah, you can't change a Singaporean. I think solobetty fail. How is that like duane? not at all.Solobetty, you judge like florence.

heya L3on2k, rock on! :) I truly believe that if Singaporean music is to hit home, it's gotta sound like home too! Don't try to 'erase' any 'trace' just to save 'face' and sound like someone who's not from home to 'hit home'. haha :)

haha chillax acoustix siol!

nice rearrangement. chords are the standard pnw stuff but nice nonetheless

what recording gear did u use btw?

heya ATW! thanks :) still working on my voice... haha should find a vocal coach since solobetty commented ;) but glad u enjoyed it!

werewolf - they are standard chords :P hehehe~ reworked but maybe not reworked enuff.. lol! i used a H4N on stereo mode :)

Very creative and it sounded great. And just before hearing your song, I was thinking, a melody can be re-covered with different lyrics, but can a set of lyrics be redone with different melodies?

Your voice timbre, I wish mine was like that. Masculine and distinctive. Mine is just plain low.

Range is not great (better than mine) so when you reach out high at one point in the song, your voice became a little thin and couldn't sustain properly. Perhaps you were singing too high a pitch as a baseline.

If your got good melody, screw chord progressions, 1-6-2-5, 1-6-4-5 can cover it. Got no melody, all the King's men would not be able to put a chord progression to save the song.

And this song is enough for me to remember your name and remove any hesitation that I be wasting time when listening to your next.

Hey bro, thanks for the comments/critique. Really helpful! I was sitting down when Singing... perhaps thats why I thinned out. I shall try it in a lower key may help out~ Nashville Number System aye! hahaa. It rocks but I'm still a little clueless! lolx.

Am working on another hymn to rework! Cheers man :) blessings n more powwa to u!

ah that explains the high quality of the recording.. i thought u went to some studio or something.. haha

The H4N really is a neat little thing :) In fact, a lot of the sounds from my upcoming Concept Album was done on this baby! haha... but plan to sell it for a full system.

hi, I came from here : madwerewolfboy's post regarding h4n heheh
http://soft.com.sg/forum/gear-sound/153485-home-studio.html

I'm not christian, i'm buddhist so I have never heard this song before.
but hey it sounds good, personally your vocal tone is great to start with but it's a little shakey, like not stable. some parts a little flat but keep on practising. If you could sing this with vibrato on your voice it would be really great. because when you drag "amazing graaaaace" , it sounds like a straight line so vibrato would add way lot of feel to it.

I have 7 tips for recording vocals usually.
1-lyrics (duh. grammar.vocab.noun.etc.)
2-tempo
3-pitch
4-pronunciation (engrish assent? singlish? japanglish? american english)
5-feel (songs are musical stories, so portraying the emotions of the story)
6-tone (somewhat related to feel, but this is more vocal tone than emotions)
7-condition (u sound like you smoke alot haha.in any case, avoid spicy/dairy. drink luke warm water with honey. don't whisper when you're having a cough it makes it worse. etc)

gd luck

P.S : solobetty - i don't know what's your background, but reading your past posts it seems like no one in singapore impresses you, you pass off a quick insensitive judgement on anything local you hear but fail to foresee potential in someone who's willing to learn, try, and improve. You slap highly-assumptious-cover-ur-ass-in-advance labels claiming the person you're dissing is egoistic or can't take criticism should they reply negatively.seriously, I highly recommend an expat music forum or take up politics or Law cos your sense of debate is highly tactical to your advantage except it's just sad that you're on your own.. SOLObetty..
