Guitar Workshop

Hi,

As a former guy stationed at Guitar Workshop, I could say that when I was there, all paint jobs which we did were done properly and to the customer's satisfaction.

Iskandar from Energy has had a few painted at our place. Hope he doesn't mind me using his name.

Anyway, I'm in no way connected with Guitar Workshop now. I'm now in Australia.

If any one want more information about Guitar Workshop pricing and stuff, please email Francis asking for an appointment and bring your guitar / bass down for him to take a look so that we can explain things and our quoted pricing to you. That was how I managed things when I was there. I'm not sure about now.

If any one of you guys want my personal opinion, please email me at klac954@uow.edu.au. I don't really check SOFT as often as I did now. Pretty busy.

Anyway, for the SHSS people out there. I'm Adrian, Sec 4H. Graduated in 1998. No ECA.

Seriously guitar painting or finishing is really not cheap. You have to understand the work of the person doing it. To unbolt lots of tings off etc etc then bolt it back. If i was correct, Prices start at 200 at guitar connection. That's still only basic finishing. could blast up to 500. :D :D

Sand by hand ... ~
abit stupid la ... took me ard 2 weeks ... coz .. still muz go school ~
didnt want to use drill/sanding attachment, coz was afraid to damage the curved areas (ie. near the neck, side)
started with 200 sand paper to "score" the varnish,
400 to remove most of it,
600 when i reached the paint,
800 when i saw the wood
and 1000 for the varnish and lacquer
(i've taken D&T once in sec 3, didnt really help much (dont really remember a thing also too), most of the stuff is on the net)

MOST IMPORTANT part is to label and remember where wat goes where !
Know of an incident where someone removed the neck to sand the guitar, didnt realise the top 2 screws were shorter than the bottom, and placed one of the longer screws on top. This resulted in one of the frets being "pushed" out by the longer screw. To anyone attempting these Pls be very careful and organised ~!

Actually .... it is really dangerous to diy (broke the trussrod of an Ibanez Roadstar II bass, coz i didnt read up, and got too enthusiatic) but ... this repainting was on a cheap guitar, and read up quite abt before starting out ... if i'd spoilt it, would have gotten a new one ... ~ Luckily everything turned out GREAT !~!!~!~!

ok .... i'd really love to add pics .....
Anyone can teach me how ???
i dun have a website ... and ... i dun really know how to link ...
(com idiot here)

oh yah ...
forgot abt the finish ... ~

SUPER HARD ~!
especially coz dun have the "blower/oven" (duno wat you call it)
abit too much it drips , den gotta sand again...
abit too little, get "bubbles" also gotta sand again....

i used 1 can of lacquer, den realised it was too thin ...
den went to get some kinda spray varnish ...
oh and if you realised ... i spoilt the finish of it, coz it resulted in cracks, but ..... looks damn cool now lah ... ~! hahahah ~!

after drawing in the lines, i used another can of lacquer to protect the silver lines/cracks, and even out the feel....~

Made me love my guitar so much more ~!

oh yah, i sanded the neck too ...
flatten it out abit ....
also sanded off the brand and signed my name on it ~ hahaha
(abit poser, but hey, my design and 2weeks of serious sweating. Also kena scolded by the cleaner auntie. i think i deserve to be able to put my name on it) hahaha ~!
