yo nebo1981, wat did u use to strip the paint? chemicals or sand with machine
or sand by hand?
would be interested in the pics
Sand by hand ... ~
abit stupid la ... took me ard 2 weeks ... coz .. still muz go school ~
didnt want to use drill/sanding attachment, coz was afraid to damage the curved areas (ie. near the neck, side)
started with 200 sand paper to "score" the varnish,
400 to remove most of it,
600 when i reached the paint,
800 when i saw the wood
and 1000 for the varnish and lacquer
(i've taken D&T once in sec 3, didnt really help much (dont really remember a thing also too), most of the stuff is on the net)
MOST IMPORTANT part is to label and remember where wat goes where !
Know of an incident where someone removed the neck to sand the guitar, didnt realise the top 2 screws were shorter than the bottom, and placed one of the longer screws on top. This resulted in one of the frets being "pushed" out by the longer screw. To anyone attempting these Pls be very careful and organised ~!
Actually .... it is really dangerous to diy (broke the trussrod of an Ibanez Roadstar II bass, coz i didnt read up, and got too enthusiatic) but ... this repainting was on a cheap guitar, and read up quite abt before starting out ... if i'd spoilt it, would have gotten a new one ... ~ Luckily everything turned out GREAT !~!!~!~!
ok .... i'd really love to add pics .....
Anyone can teach me how ???
i dun have a website ... and ... i dun really know how to link ...
(com idiot here)
