just a question... how does the rep power thing work?

let me explain:

rep power: how many rep points u can give others. say i have one, i give u point, ur points increase by one. mr James here(soft) has a rep power of 10. so when he gives u (u lucky #$#@%^#), ur power increase by 10. rep power depends on time in forum(compare mine and the guy right above me), number of post and some others i have yet to find out.

rep points: the points people give u. u can check who gave u at ur user CP. make frens, write good posts, get points!

how to give? at each post, there is a weighing balance icon. approve increases the guy/gal's point. disapprove? decrease i think. never tried, doubt will.

on this topic, i feel soft really has a very low range average for rep points. i see other forums like err...err..err....users have like 400...1000 points...generous bunch of people huh?

maybe its the amount of text you've used up to date? or a single post?

I recall SOFT having some kind of point system in the past. Can't find it now. The point system depends on the number of post you posts, your participation in SOFT (eg everytime you click on pm or some other parts of SOFT, you get some points) etc. So obviously the longer you have been around, the more points you have.

Not sure if the point system is still the same. I believe the rep power thing is part of the point system.

I think pm cannot be one of the variables to increase rep power. Not really contributing.

I think the rep power variables are as follows:
-no. of posts
-duration of membership
-rep points
-James' blessings (lol...can he give ppl more rep power?)

btw, blueprintstudios...faster way to earn rep points is to write something to impress ppl with high rep power.

ehh... i dont think rep power has gotta do with how many rep points u have.
ive seen people with 8 rep power but still 10 rep points. especially those who registered long ago, but post little.
