Recommendations for 25-key midi controller

Was in HK last week.
Saw Novation XioSynth 25 was about HKD 2200 ( ~S$442). For this you get:
- 25 note controller
- 8 voice polysynth
- USB audio interface.

Was more interested in the Korg Micro-X for ~ S$770 (but doesn't come with the foot pedal and Korg Software package that City Music is selling the Micro-X with for $920). BUT out of stock .... (probably snapped up before Christmas). Now trying to convince my wife to go HK for their summer sale.

and I remember you said it comes with a SRX analog card?

The Fantom XR is still at HKD$8800.
But I don't think it comes with the Analog Collection SRX Card anymore (as it was not listed on the price tag). But no harm e-mailing Tom Lee and ask.

It is around SGD 2150 here..and you get SRX cards at SGD 320 per pc...

remember - buy low, sell high...

John..again you did a wrong calculation..Sweelee's list price for XR is $4600, and on sale you will probably get for $2300. Not a cent less than that....Moreover, you may expect an answer no stock....

Take my advise..sell off your XV 5050 and keep the SRX cards and go for XR..you can get 5050 sounds also if you need on your XR..email me..I will send you..

IMHO, Indonesia seems to be reasonable and cheaper than SG...due to no. of sellers more.....
The Jakarta store fellow ...challenged me this !!! 8)

Software synth/sampler is the way to go !!!

But I must admit, Fantom X sounds are FANTASTIC !!!

It is not a 50% discount for all items - It is a "UP TO 50%" discount.
Before Christmas 2005, I enquired about the price of the Fantom XR and was quoted about $2250 BEFORE a sale. If $2268 is the price DURING a sale, I would not consider it a sale at all.

For a cheaper price, you could get a BRAND NEW set in Tom Lee. (and at one point, it came with the analog expansion card at no extra cost).

That's why I tend to save up and buy Roland stuff from Swee Lee's "relative", Tom Lee in HK these days. Anyone want a Roland SH-201 at $780 instead of the $1,200 that Swee Lee is asking for. Hey the savings pays for the airticket !!

Good service too; my girl was banging away on their Korg Oasys while I had a look and no one told her to stop!! She actually wanted me to buy one because she likes it.

since we are in the topic of Swee Lee pricing,
this is what I found out today from the sale:

Roland (at 100% price)
SH201 - $1575
V-synth - $6090
Juno G - $2678
Juno D - $1628
Fantom X8 - $8400

I indeed purposely key in the pricing onto my handphone
for a discussion here.

It happened that my drummer friend is working at Sims drive branch,
so I ask him are all 50% off? and he says yes
as I referred to the Juno G
which he says cost $1339.

If that's true, could the SH201 be $787.50 ???
which I was tempted to buy with cash on hand...

The SH201 is something good where
what you see is what get !!!
all sliders and knobs in front of you!

I was there for the FantomXR and at the same time to chat with my drummer salesman friend.
How to buy when they can't even let you try??? Have to go back home and listen to the website demos.

Wow! after listening and reading the specs, have to admit
the SH201 is no toy, the sounds are punchy big killer sounds.

Roland is still king in making synthesis gear, it's definetly
beats Korg's current analog modelling Radias.

now wondering to keep the SH32 or proceed with the SH201 purchase ???


If Swee Lee no good, I recommend KL Bentley music where they bring in more Roland models.
