i'm thinking of investing in an octave pedal. currently looking for an octave down, because i'm current building an octave up myself , well, as soon as i can get hold of the correct transistor

care to recommend any? thanks

hmmm i own a boss octave 2... well its so-so for me but i think there are better octave pedals out there which i do not know...

personally i think octave pedals not much use for guitars... one prominent use would be neo classical licks.. the other would be basslines... trying to find more ways to ustilise my octave for my guitar... any ideas?

and it sounds like shit when i use it thorugh my single 10" speaker... sounds acceptable in studios 4×12"...

the Boss OC-2 is nice. good tracking, good range of tracking, and you blend in your main signal.

There's the MXR Blue Box - AWESOME octave down. Damn mean and gnarly. I like it a lot... but you can't mix your main signal in. Greater range of tracking than the OC-2 above. Plus, you can mix out the octave and have an insane wall-of-sound synth distortion.

Finally, the Foxrox Octron. Get this, don't have to do your octave up liao lah. Got 1 oct down - which is really all you need for gtr and 1 oct up - easily the best and most insanely rich/strong sounding oct up I've heard yet - and you can also mix in your main signal. What more do you want? Oh, true bypass... built like a tank... go listen to the clips on foxrox's website - the tracking is... as good as any other and the range is the same, if not more than, the Blue Box.

but it thought the blue box can only do two octaves down only?

very impressed by the demo vid regarding the foxrox i found on google. i think it was done by fatback or sumthing. i love the synthy tones! but confirm very expensive. it seems that there's not not octave pedals in the market.

is OC-2 discontinued already? couldnt see the model on musiciansfriend. ONly got oc-3 not. wonder how that compares.

The OC3 is more fun to me because it has a function that allows the the low A and E strings to be transposed down an octave while the top 4 strings retain their pitch. This is perfect for solo acoutic and jazz styled players. Also the tracking of the octave is more stable compared to the OC2.

Yes, the blue box can only do 2 octaves down but its an INSANE 2 octave down tone. Compared to the Boss OC-2, if you do 2 oct down on that, you can't really hear the octave, but not so on the Blue Box. Play it loud on a big cabinet and its, I kid thee not, a monster!
Oh, and its cheap. :D

The Foxrox is certainly good - its a case of a boutiqe gear thrashing stock products here IMO. It is expensive but you do get some of the richest octave up efx, together with a nifty clean octave down plus the ability to blend in your main signal. I'm buying one.

OC-2 is discontinued... I spoke to Randolf regarding purchasing either OC-2 or OC-3, and he preferred the OC-2 for reasons I cannot recall. Maybe you would like to ask Randolf why.

EH POG!
EH HOG!
EH Octave Multiplexor!

Test at mrmisse.com and buy from me!!!!

If you are interested, I spied on an OC-2 at a music school/shop at Causeway Point just now...4th floor. Can't remember the name now. Just one piece in the window display...it's been there for ages, hiding among a Marshall Jackhammer and Guvnor, along with a plethora of tgm pedals. :)

Btw, despite being discontinued, the OC-2 isn't like... holy grail priced. $100 - $120... in a store if in immaculate condition. Otherwise, like $80 around the buy/sell.

shreddy the boss oc2 WAS selling at $50 during the heydeys of buy and sell at luther. same goes for the ds1.

the oc2 does not track that well and for octave pedals, they don't like em double notes or chords... BUT with recent intro of the EH POG/HOG its like wonderful lah.

Digital rocks.

Edder, if that's the case, then its pretty clear which is simply - better.

My bad on the OC-2, that $80 was with regards to the MIJ version.

Not eyeing the POG. So big and so pricy. But the MICRO POG.. hmm.. can control sub-octave, octave up, and direct signal. In the same league as the foxrox octron. Can't wait for that to come out! Edder you must bring in that one ok! :D

btw, any comments of the danelectro octave pedal? couldnt remember the name though..
