And wats affordable and good portable ones? :O where can i get them?
thxs for helping!

hey bro,

how portable would u want your amp to be? Like driving portable, or something that you can put inside your gigbag?

http://www.ernieball.com/products/hardware/2176/gigbag-amp
there is something like tt which is very portable hahah

If you dont need the amp for performance, i think you could be better off getting a small multieffects unit such as the pocket podhttp://line6.com/pocketpod/ or maybe if even something like a vox tonelab st, which can be placed inside your guitars gig bag if there is a large compartment, and you can use it with headphones or if performing you can even plug it straight to a pa systemhttp://www.voxamps.com/pedals/tonelabst/

If you want something like a really small microamplifier maybe u can check out this http://www.svguitars.com/products/GM6-Mini-Amplifier.html or http://www.svguitars.com/products/Sound-Drive-Mini-Amplifier.html

heeyy :DD thxs for the reply! think im going for the microamplifier :)
just asking is the pocket pod like a amplifier just tat its superb small n softer sound? or isit just for effects?
any idea when can i buy the microamplifier? :D

vox mini3, line 6 micro spider and roland micro cube are good portable practice amps, with a few built-in effects for you to play different types of songs without separate effect pedals...

you can get the mini3 and micro spider at city music, and the micro cube at swee lee, but if you don't mind second-hand items, there should always be a few being sold on the amps section http://www.soft.com.sg/forum/forumdisplay.php/99-Amplifier-Buy-Sell

if you meant those ultra light plug-into-earpiece type of amp, I guess you can try vox amplugs (city music)

the pocket pod is an effects unit that is meant for use with earphones/headphones. Its like e most portable solution for practicing use. The sounds are modeled after legendary amplifiers so you have access to lots of different amplifier sounds. In addition u also get a palette of effects to chose from. The only downside is that you have to use earphones, which can be a plus point if you do not want to disturb anyone e.g. in army bunks

I never used a micro amplifier before but i guess you cant expect too much from the sound of it. But if u wanna like have something to amplify your electricguitar sound and let other ppl jam along softly etc then i guess it would be a good choice

Apart from the places bro vidak has recommended u can look at svguitars too, which sells the 2 microamp i linked u above

x+mini1.JPG

i'm not advocating this as a 'better' set up but i get a more appealing practice tone by attaching a mini speaker to my pocket-size effects unit, in this case my Pocket POD.

thxs for the replies guys :DD they really helped! @subversion did u attach a speaker to ur Pocket pod? , tats awesome , where did you buy Pocket POD?

Hi sub, I've tried the above set up but I can't manifest any driven tones without this super bassy response, even with some eq tweaking. The pod's great through headphones but again I can't use the x mini for any driven tones, perhaps you'd share some tips?

he he... i'm quite the opposite- i find the headphone tones coming from the PP quite repulsive. i don't quite get you there- you are saying there's excessive bass response coming from the X-mini?

Yes soo much excessive bass that the x mini vibrates vigorously, even with the bass at zero, and the driven tones, they sound so...thin and fake

or if u really dig the portability, u can get vox amplugs~
i connect mine to a portable speaker too :D

You can try city music

http://citymusic.com.sg/webshaper/store/viewProd.asp?pkProductItem=539

They are the main distributor and i think they typically provide one year warranty for their items. A similar product would be the korg pandora mini http://citymusic.com.sg/webshaper/store/viewProd.asp?pkProductItem=639, which is cheaper, but seems to sound alot worse than the pod based on reviews. I havent tried both products so i cant really judge but no harm going to city music to try them out

An even cheaper option would be the amplugs like wad bro csds92 suggested, i think its about 70, also at city music. For that product its only distortion and no other effects if im not wrong and you cant play clean sounds if im not wrong.

So, citymusic is the place for you to go bro, they seem to have everything you would have if you are looking towards the pocket-portable effects units + small speaker combo

where did you buy the PP ? D:

there are many different types of amplugs, and most have a second mode that switch on a built in effect (e.g. Lead amplug has a mode with delay) my special amplug simply give a ton more gain on its second mode

as long as it isn't the Metal amplug, most of them has a passable "clean" sound when the gain is lowered to 0 =)

if you have tight bajet, dont need all the bells and whistles on a pod and not too fussy about toanz ...amplug!!:)

Ahh ic thank you bro for the correction :D interesting to know that about the amplug, if im not wrong there is one very cute little mini stack version of e ampplug oso. yup found it, wow very cute hahha http://www.voxamps.com/amplug/amplugcabinet/

thxs guys for helpingg :DDDDDDDDD i went to buy a Joyo mini amp today XD only $20 just to try out , the sound is not really good :P , think im goin to buy a desktop amp :DD thxs for the recommendations!! they really helped!

hahah bro cant really expect big sounds from a small amp like that man hahah its always gonna be a tradeoff between portability and sound. Maybe if you want a small prac amp u can get a vox pathfinder or ibanez toneblaster, good for low volume practicing
