:) REB BEACH: KIRK HAMMETT Is One Of The Worst Guitar Players I've Ever Heard

Comparing who's better who's not thats so meaningful.

its unbelievable even a veteran professional musician can stoop so low to say such things.

Kirk is over-rated, everyone knows that. Even some fan boys of the band.

Metallica = James and Lars. and Dave  =X

Well, but i think he's pissed because of the throwing darts thing.

All I can say is.... "Smart move Reb.... smart move" hehe I bet you right now that people who dont know how REB are now searching internet trying to know him or looking for live performances or even buying a CD :P And most of them are disovering how good this guy really is :)

I agree with a lot of what whitestrat says, but I don't believe Kirk was easily replaceable and of no value whatsoever to Metallica. He wrote a lot of music in the band and I don't know why it seems like everyone thinks James was the only one writing music. An example would be the riff to Enter Sandman, how many people actually know that it was written by Kirk? The intro to Fade to Black and many other songs actually make Metallica more epic than it was. Kirk was asked to take over the place of Dave Mustaine, can you imagine how highly the band must have thought of him back then? He's just a low-profile dude who never wanted to get into much of the band's politics.

To Reb, Kirk is laughing all the way to the bank right now. He couldn't care less what some washed up 80s guitarist has to say about him, he's still selling to full crowds every time he performs.

eeee zero marks for his attitude..Was he trying to be liam gallagher? . what a human.t's good to be honest but sometimes things are better left unsaid.

reb beach is easily 1 of the top guys who defined hard rock or "hair metal" back in the glorious 80s, alongside guys such as evh, vito bratta, richie sambora, ritchie kotzen, blues saraceno (though i certainly think he is much more than just a hard rocker), george lynch, mick mars, cc deville etc etc .

can you say kirk hammett is 1 of the top guys of metal? nope. that credit goes to guys like james hetfield, chuck schuldiner, trey azagthoth etc etc..

reb's comment about hammett's guitar playing is spot on. with reb's calibre, it's certainly a credible comment.

i'm sure kirk inspired far more kids to play guitar than reb will ever do.
and that's all that matters.

i'm sure britney spears sold more records than Dokken. and that's all that matters.

i'm sure linkin park inspired more kids to listen to heavy "music" than Morbid Angel. and that's all that matters.

i'm sure eminem inspired more kids to listen to rap instead of rock. and that's all that matters.

Music is subjective.

Personally i agree with whitestrat that Kirk IS replaceable despite the contributions he made, writing enter sandman and all that stuff because many artists out there have composed catchy songs and riffs that have stayed in our heads over the years. Kirk just happened to do it in the trash metal arena.

Like whitey pointed out about Slash. I have to say Slash has become an Icon for 80s rock with emphasis to his GnR days. Whether hes over rated or not, one has to admit that GnR would not have been GnR without Slash.

For Metallica, i always preferred Dave Mustaine to be in the band rather than Kirkasaurus. It is safe to say James and Dave revolutionized the whole genre of trash metal along with Lars on drums of course. Dave is one of the rare metal guitarists to use pentatonic scales. He wrote the stuff before Kirk and when Kirk joined he just covered them.

Honestly, i dont find anything fantastic about Kirk but i do not justify as professional what Rebby said about Kirk either but i can see where hes coming from in terms of his vibrato really being too goddam excessive.

reb's just calling a spade a spade and giving constructive criticism. i'm sure kirk is humble enough to accept it, i'm just kinda surprised at the backlash that reb has received from some softies.

ok we know u're as sore as your hero Reb over the winger thing and the awards thing,
but that's no reason to behave like a class-less human being too.

Who are we kidding?

Anyone with a proper (not even good) ear, decent proficiency on the guitar and have seen Metallica's live videos would be able to tell how much truth there is in what Reb Beach said. Funny how he gets slammed for speaking the truth, be it because he is bitter or otherwise. Which btw is just speculation, KH's playing proficiency is not.

Seriously, KH getting all the recognition for the guitar player he is, is really a joke and an insult. Doing the same triplets at 120bpm only impresses the young ones.

given d choice, whose shoes would u rather be in? the poser who makes millions? or the monster shredder playing for nickles & dimes?..

btw, if people say Kirk is the biggest overrated guitarist of all time, then I wonder what that makes Slash. He's not exactly technical wizard either.

perhaps reb said what he said because metallica threw darts at a picture of his friend kip winger. but what reb said definitely has truth in it.

why didn't you condemn metallica for throwing darts at kip winger's picture and showing it live to 20,000 people night in night out? very classy to do that? double standards here?

no class.

Metallica became the best metal band in the world not by musical talent alone, I'm sure. Like every extremely successful band/actor/businessman they must have stepped my many people to get where they are today. Just look at their name. Even that is stolen. It's all part and parcel of business.
