Reasons why NOT TO compare Yoshiki with other drummer!

I always see people comparing Yoshiki with another drummer one. So this i write out 6 reason why not to (Excuse for my english)

1. Yoshiki has to spend his time on piano, writing lyrics and composing songs too. If he doesnt play others or doest practice much, i bet he will be better than Joey Jordison or can be as technicality as possible. Japanese are creative, Look at Akira Jimbo he sounds like having 8 hands.

2. Yoshiki love Piano MORE than drum. In his interviews in Korean in 2000. He was asked if he would choose Piano or Drums which would he choose. He say PIANO without hesitation.

3. Yoshiki's music doesnt need technicality at all. His drum beat require only stamina and hardwork. How many drummer out there can be compared to Yoshiki? Of courese there's is someone. But i didnt see much. Just compare Change Of Season's and Art Of Life drum beat (If yea really wanna compare Mike and Yoshiki lah).

4. Yoshiki has a great great showmanship, his drum solo more of an act and stamina show off rather then showing his technical. So people thought he cant do technical skill? Maybe Joey or Mike or Dave Weckl or Akira or Nicholas Barker can play for an hour without stop but just that they didnt show it before? Lol..

5. Yoshiki is more of a composer and classical pianist rather than a drummer. For that, if he play drum at that fast anyone would be impress.

6.YOSHIKI IS NOT COMMERCIAL drummer leh. He dont play drums for a living, having all this drum clinic worldwide.

7*. In 1980's for punkhead or spoilt brat kid (i mean yoshiki) that brought up in JAPAN only, having that kinda of English is kinda impressive. At that time i very sure ONLY YOSHIKI can write good english to compare to other punkhead, rockers who cant write them at all?

8. Yoshiki play drums more like venting an anger rather than playing? He play drum without technique at all, he just whack as hard as he can. Why he want to whack as hard as he can and lift up his hand up very high while without doing that he can get the same snare sound?

This is all 6 reason that i can thought of on why dont ever compare Yoshiki with ANOTHER DRUMMER. No matter what Yoshiki still own them, there's alot to consider.

And no doubt Yoshiki has the worst drumming skill TECHNICALLY

p/s: Can Mike Portnoy play Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu on piano? Yoshiki can play Fantasie Impromptu on piano as well as other insane classical piece and i think Yoshiki can play Overture 1928 too :p Lol...

Wow that's a really good explanation.

I see no need for you to explain at all. Sure we all know Yoshiki isn't one of the best drummers but we all know his musical gifts.
And wtf, what's up with the "punkhead not being able to write english"?
Joe Strummer's lyrics are poetry.
Everyone has their gifts, you make it sound like Yoshiki is above all of them.
And no, I don't have anything against X-Japan at all.
By the way, you listed 8 instead of 6.

Yah, The Clash lyrics are very well crafted.(at least for the first album)

sLapshock, your title is "not to compare" but you give so many comparison?

ok, it keep it simple. nobody is better than anybody. all are equal coz at the end of the day, we are all human.

i might not play the drum or piano as well as another person but i have other talents to balance out. like i can squat down with just 1 leg. hmm.. dont know if anyone else have this talent?

hey, that's pretty hard...

Gordonzz : sorry ah.
wangdexian : i mean if anyone ask me, i will say yoshiki owe them coz i consider other thigns too. and about the english read back teh paragraph that is for yoshiki only who write bad english. yoshiki is punkhead and spoilt brat kid.

let's just respect them as musicans, guys.......

instead of comparing A wif B......... cos A will never be B....... n B will never be A........

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz already.. diff ppl diff style diff playing.. diff genre diff kind of interest.. cannot compare.. it more like the thread started is comparing 'his' drummer with other drummer lol!! no offence bro.. but like gordon say.. i also bored of ur X stuff.. i mean like latest news or what.. is accpetable.. u keep talking abt X.. know u the biggest fan -.-" but come on lah give this a break., :)

pls proof read your own post and thread topic before ranting off......this doesnt make sense. sounds more like pointing out the superiority of yoshiki than anything else. just my 2c worth.

and btw....yoshiki isnt the ONLY english proficient songwriter in japan around that time. either u think loudness is dead....or i dunno what to say

i also sick of people comparing yoshiki with other drummer leh ..

no offence guy. paiseh.

no leh brother.. no need paiseh.. i noe how it feels when u love a band/thing alot :)

chill k? we still, or at least im still looking forwards to ur trivia and news abt x japan. :D

it's a little weird cos i've never really compared nor hear people compare yoshiki with other drummers.

only a few things i feel more interesting to share: yoshiki slouches when he drums. i think it's quite fair and agreeable by drummers that doing that will injure your back in the long run. I think yoshiki has stopped drumming after x-japan. (also because he fell from his elevated drumset stage before.)

on the other hand, i feel that yoshiki's drumming is not technical. it's more about the passion. one can feel for his music when they see the passion he places during drumming.

Comparision is normal man.
I mean if you see two guys playing drums side by side, don't tell me you won't compare them? 8O
Okokok, X-Japan is great, bottom line.

hahaha. thats the funniest post ever. first you say not to compare yoshiki with other drummers, and then ur whole post is about comparing him to other FAR BETTER drummers. then u say that punkheads cant write good english. well here's news to you. NEITHER CAN YOU!!

if drum solos arent about displaying one's technical abilities then it wudnt be called a solo wud it? and so what if yoshiki can double bass for an hour? that aint a solo to me. theres no denying that yoshiki is multi-talented but who the hell cares if portnoy cant play that song on the piano? portnoy's in the modern drummer hall of fame? is yoshiki?

ps: pls excuse that dude's math too, he doesnt know what is six and what is eight.
